Anyone try Regorafenib/Stivarga lately, 2019?

in Colorectal Cancer #1

Good Morning, All. I have stage 4 colorectal cancer, with mets in my liver and a couple of lymph nodes. So far I haven't had cancer in my lungs, but I've been getting breathless lately.  I'm getting a CT scan this morning after a CEA tumor tracker that increased significantly.

Started with FOLFOX  plus avastin a year ago when diagnosed and it worked great, shrinking all tumors. But I had to go off the Oxalaplatin because I got neuropathy. Tried 5 FU plus Avastin, etc., as maintenance, but the cancer grew. I've been on FOLFIRI, replacing oxalap. with Irenotecan for the last three months. If in fact today's scan shows the cancer is still growing, my oncologist is suggesting Regorafenib, trade name Stivarga, a pill I'd take once a day as the next treatment. 

Does anyone have experience with Regofenib? Thank you.

    Hello Carole

    I have seen posts on the forum, where members have been on Stivarga.  I hope they come along soon and share their expereinces with you. 

    Be sure and let us know how your scan results turn out. Hoping that its not in the lungs.

    I'm not able to help you with the new treatment they want to put you on, but like Tru said, there are others on here that have been on it.  Just wanted to let you know that you are being prayed for on the scan and hope that all went well.

    My mom has tried Stivarga and

    My mom has tried Stivarga and it hasn't proven any good results.  Lots of hand foot syndrom to the point where a touch of a tissue paper will give her pain.  We got off that.  We also tried other pill form chemo: lonsurf with no improvements but no real side effects.  We're on another pill form chemo now, Afinitor, which is dropping her platelets.  Not sure how successful this one is because it's made for breast cancer and not colon cancer but our oncologist says it targets a similar tumor marker.  

    In all I don't think pill form chemo works just as good as traditional drip chemo.
