Hello from Texas, it has been while since I posted.  Still NED August will be 8 years from MMMT stage 3 grade 3 with no recurrance. So that is my Good news. Bad news for my friend Jon, just had surgery for a brain tumor, very agressive, radiation starts tomorrow along with chemo pills. Father of 4 amazing boys all still in school.  I wanted to just ask for prayers for Jon.  This site is one place where I know people will understand the need for prayers.  Jon lives in Texas too.   Thanks everyone that believe in a higher power that will lend their voices in prayers for Jon.  trish

Hi Trish!

Great news to hear you are doing so well 8 years after diagnosis...especially given you had one of the more serious type of uterine cancer.

It has been sad to read of the recent deaths of both long term and newer members on the board...

Will pray for your friend Jon. So difficult to hear of younger people still raising families who become stricken with this disease...or the ladies never able to conceive.

Hoping for the best possible outcome.

Hi Trish:

That is such really good news that you are doing so well after nearly 8 years from your diagnosis.

I will keep your friend, Jon in my prayers.

I lost my first cousin to Glioblastoma a very aggressive type of brain cancer in November of 2012 and he had brain cancer for almost 2 1/2 years as he was diagnosed in June of 2010 and he also took chemo pills.  He lived in Maryland about a 2 hour trip from PA where I live.  Our family was very close to my cousin and we all miss him. He was 72 almost 73 when he passed away which is still young by today's standards.

I'm kind of new here, but I believe in the power of prayer. I had people from all religions praying for me when I had my operation and every night I now pray for people going through this illness. I'll say a special prayer for him tonight.

And glad you're doing great!

Prayers for Jon.   But I pray every night for everyone battling cancer.    I'm glad to hear your good news Trish.

I'm very glad to hear that you're still NED, Trish.

But very sorry to hear about your friend Jon. While cancer is bad for every patient, it seems especially sad when it strikes a parent still raising children. I hope the prayers of those on this site aid in his treatment.

Trish, it is good news/bad news.  I am sorry to hear about your friend, Jon.  I suspect there are others who may not post, but will read your news and keep him in their prayers as well.

It is great to hear how well you are doing, and I also pray for that.

I hate how the list keeps getting longer, but of course I'll pray for Jon and his family. I'd like to add him to my thank you prayers, so keep us updated. Any talk of immunotherapy for him? Hey, if it worked for Jimmy Carter's brain cancer....

Your butterfly always makes me smile. I think you had just gotten it to celebrate 5 years NED when I found this place. You'll have to add another butterfly when you hit 10 years.

I do not think I could go through that again.  My daughter who has multiple  tattoos told me after the first few passes  of the needle  it does not hurt.  SHE LIED!  She wanted to go with me.  I went by myself.  She was upset with me.  She went back months later and got another tattoo  of a giraffe  with butterfly  wings  on its back. The giraffe  for my Mom who died from sarcoma soft tissue that started on her leg that had spread throughout her body before it was found and the wings for me. Pretty but really big.  I am going to wait a while before I  get with Jon and wife Shellye to discuss  treatments.  I do not want to hit them with my limited knowledge also he has a different type being in the brain. I did tell them to stay away from Dr Google and go to trusted sites.  Here, NCI, MD Anderson,  Mayo Clinic places that do the testing and research.  They are still in shock.

So good to hear you are doing well! I will definitely keep your friend in my prayers. The power of prayer is amazing and comforting to know we are not fighting the battles in our lives by ourselves.

Alex TriBeca, the host of Jeporady game show has credited the power of the many people praying for him as he undergoes treatment for pancreatic cancer. He apparently is doing very well considering pancreatic cancer is so aggressive.

You are a compassionate, thoughtful friend to request prayers on Jon’s behalf. Blessings to you!

Trish, I really do rejoice to hear that you are an 8-year survivor! I'm in TX too.  Who was your gyn/onc?  The Lord is giving me encouragement today through you, as I am so nervous about recurrence lately.

Praying now for Jon.  We all know that awful feeling after you get a diagnosis.  Glad they will have you to lean on.

I went to UTSW in Dallas, where I was born, raised and still live.  My doctor was Jayanthi Lea, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in the treatment of ovarian, endometrial, cervical and other gynecologic malignancies, as well as the treatment of pre-invasive cervical, vaginal, and vulvar disease. She is skilled in minimally invasive, robotic, and advanced laparoscopic surgery.  Dr. Lea graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree in biology. She earned her medical degree at East Carolina University School of Medicine and completed her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.  Love her.  She is great.  I am down to 1 check a year now so I see here every Aug for my checkup.  I would recommend her to anyone in this area.

Thanks for the prayers for Jon. trish

I couldn't believe it when Riverside Methodist Hospital showed up in your post. That's where I went to nursing school.
