Well, I had my 2nd PSA test on 10/15/2018.  The result is <0.1.  It is my understanding that <0.1 is undetectable.  Smile, I am.

The total PSA value from this assay system is

standardized against the WHO standard. The test

result will be approximately 20% lower when compared

to the equimolar-standardized total PSA (Beckman

Coulter). Comparison of serial PSA results should be

interpreted with this fact in mind.

 

This test was performed using the Siemens

chemiluminescent method. Values obtained from

different assay methods cannot be used

interchangeably. PSA levels, regardless of

value, should not be interpreted as absolute

evidence of the presence or absence of disease.  Show Less

 

I am 68.  Gleason 4+3=7; RP with bladder neck reconstruction; A bilateral pelvic lymph node dissection was done (obturator and hypogastric)including deep pelvic nodes on the left side. All longitudinal lymphatics were clipped or sealed.

    This is the second time we celebrate your progression into remission. I hope the status continues forever. In your last update you informed us on the achieved continence. Your next update may be on your recovery from ED issues.

    Let's wait and celebrate this zero PSA in your journey with a full glass of red.

    Good news. My 4th test coming

    Good news. My 4th test coming in early Nov. Surgery was Sept of 2017 and first 3 were undetectable. However I'm still a nervous wreck in the weeks prior to the next test.

    It Is What It Is

    To stay ahead of this cancer, we have to do our due diligence.  It is a necessary evil that will be with us the rest of our days.  A part of living with PC.  Around the day of the test and then until I get the results, like you, very apprehensive.  I think that is perfectly natural and I might as well get used to it.  My wife would tell me, you are undetectable right now, don't worry about something that has not happened.  So congratulations on your previous results.  Hope you have many more to come.

    Living six months at a time

    Hi All,

    I think we all live six months at a time.  Just passed my fourth year aniversary last month.  PSA test coming soon, hoping for the best.

    Well done!

    I have a four month weight to what seems like the most important test of my life - the first test post SRT.

    The thing is that the one after that (if I am very lucky) will feel exactly the same. And the one after that and so on.

    We are rolling the dice until we die

    We just have to accept this and love life for what it is.

    Dice

    Everybody is rolling the dice everyday until they die, we are just doing it in a more explicit way than most.
    But each time you win the likelihood that the prostate cancer will return decreases.
    Eventually it becomes more likely that death will find another way to say coucou. :-)
    The next roll of the dice for me is after Christmas and I feel lucky!

    Delighted with your "Undetectable", lighter.  As the others are saying, each undetectable increases the strong liklihood that you'll never have detectable PCa again.

    Feel good

    Feel really good about the results.  Personally, I think the inconsistent ED issues are being caused by the neurapraxia as a result of the surgery.   Just looking at the procedure, looks like they should be able to recover, but that will take time.  Procedure notes:  "The vascular pedicles to the prostate were taken with the ENSEAL device and large clips as we got close to the neurovascular bundles. As I dissected along to the apex, I noted excellent neurovascular bundle sparing bilaterally."  For now, my wife and I are still intimate and are also as happy as we can be with the PSA and continence results.  The peripheral nervous system healing will take time.  Will let you folks know about the ED situation.  My gut feeling is that I am getting there.  Smile, I am.
