For the past two days, I have been trying to edit my "more articles" post to add a new academic article about walnuts helping prevent colon tumors.  The post included a link to the article and the quotation, "these data demonstrate that walnuts confer significant protection against intestinal tumorigenesis and growth and preserve ISC function in the context of a high-calorie diet and obesity. Thus, these data add to the accumulating evidence connecting walnuts as a potentially effective dietary strategy to break the obesity-colon cancer link."

When I try to post, the site says in red type it is ""Forbidden. Contains contacts. Message seems to be spam. "

I complained about this to the support team, and they suggested "you may need to edit it to be less like spam."  I cannot imagine how I could make the post look less like spam.  I have asked them to re-address this issue, however, if it cannot be resolved, I will depart the forum.

So, if your attempted post is "forbidden," you are not alone. Hopefully this new "spam filter" can be fixed to preserve the function of the forum. . .

    Wording

Sometimes the wording of an article can throw it into the "forbidden" zone.  I'm not sure what the solution would be but I've come across that in other applications.  It's frustrating that's for sure.  Wishing you luck.

Please don't widraw from the forum!!! You would be punishing those of us who need your insight and wisdom. Besides, how will we ever be able to give you support back as you have done for so many???

You know you can't withdraw, because...

we would haunt you forever - those of us who die, because we wern't able to read your post -  (thats called emotional blackmail)

No really, let the powers that be try to sort it out, and in the meantime, post what you can.

    Me too

I was trying to post information and research links regarding Chaga mushrooms and it would not let me.  I complained as well...maybe not so nicely.

Let's see if this gets posted but if interested search Chaga mushrooms and potential benefits.  Also search on pub med.

    Update

Today, the CSN support staff provided a less iritating suggestion than "try to make your posts look less like spam."  They said, "We appreciate your patience in this matter.  We are aware of the problems this new spam filter is causing and we are working with our IT department to get them resolved quickly.  We hope it should only be a day or two before this gets fixed but we will continuing working on it.  I just reviewed the link you are trying to post and do not see any way you could make it look less like spam, it should be acceptable."

So, I will apologize for being cranky, thank you for your kind comments, and assume that this matter will be resolved in a few days.

I have benefitted greatly from being a member of this forum and I appreciate all of the members' input and support.

Time better spent curating useful research

Maybe the ACS could spend a little time, and even a small amount of their considerable financial resources,  pulling together and organizing the kinds of research findngs you and I and others are posting.   Each forum moderator could send out postings when new relevant research, especially as it relates to non-toxic lifestyle choices, is published.

Same goes for side effects -  it's a bit depressing to see the same questions come up time after time.

I imagine they are nervous about anything that breaks the mold or could expose them to liability.  I am afraid it is up to us to conduct and share the research.  At least this forum is here.

I'm glad that they responded and it sounds like they are trying to address the issue.  Seems like whenever any program, no matter it a chat, game or news site, etc. updates or adds new features something always goes wayward.  I'm hoping that they address the issue within a timely manner and you don't leave.  You have posted many informative articles.

People can just Google it. There is a valid reason for forbidding these posts. There was almost a war on this page about 5 years ago over articles. Oh Pete Lost at Sea, how I'll miss his crazy rants .I'm going to look up walnuts .You look up brocolli sprouts. That was my go to food .

    Good Old Pete

He posted so much stuff and he did get banned and he longed to come back but wasn't allowed.  Sometimes posts can start a war especially if one doesn't agree.  Miss his ever searching new found "war on cancer".  He tried SO many things and spent an enormous amount of money searching for a cure, but he unfortunately became Lost at Sea with his demise.  Miss him greatly.

True, the forum has its value

And BTW, earlier this month in another thread (PSK and turkey tail mushrooms) I posted a link to a Yale news release on research about walnuts done at Yale with Stage III Ccolon cancer patients in which the a couple of ounces a week of walnuts were shown to markedly improve outcome.   Maybe a new thread on Walnuts alone is needed.

    Issue resolved

After being out of town for a few days (Summer solstice, you know, a great time to hike) I have reposted the "forbidden" information without issue ( https://csn.cancer.org/node/316770 ).  Thank you for your support and the interesting links.  I consider this issue resolved and hopefully can move on to more important things.

I wish they would resolve the horrible search capabilities of this site.  The spam thing is annoying.  But the lack of proper search capabilities is even more so.  It does no one any good when you can't even find anything on the site from all the past posts.
