14 pound overnight

in Uterine/Endometrial Cancer #1

Is 14 pound weight gain after hysterectomy normal.  I just got home from the hospital and stepped on the scales - I have gained 14 pounds between going to the hospital yesterday and arriving home today.  My stomach is bloated but my hands and feet aren’t swollen.  the Only thing I have had to eat in 4 days is corn flakes this morning.  Surely IV fluids and forced gas could cause that kind of weight gain.  Anyone else experience anything this dramatic?

    Ugh!

    I didn't gain that much but put on 4 pounds which is a lot for a little girl like me.  I was so upset.  I ate nothing but 3 dixie cups of ice cream the whole time!  and water and water for pill taking.

    I talked to one of the nurses.  Those IV bags weigh 3.5 pounds each.  So that's part of it I'm sure.  You have to urinate, and go number 2 to get rid of that fluid.  Rest assured it is not FAT!  no way if that's all you ate.

    I follow that trainer, Jillian and she said when we lie down, fluid settles so you will weigh more.  Try to flush out all that stuff and in about 3 days you should see some of it gone and eventually all of it will be gone.  It took me 3 days for 4 pounds so I imagine it should take a little longer.

    Weight Gain

    I also was up in weight, but not as much as you are, definitely less than 10 lbs.  My gain went into my legs, ankles, and feet.  I think it's from water retention from the saline (salt) in the IV's.  I was told to keep my feet above my heart if I could, or if not, to at least get them up on the same level.  I think it took a couple of weeks to come down.  Fourteen pounds is quite a lot.  You might want to check with your doctor on that much.  They might want to give you diuretic pills like Lasix, which I was finally able to get.

    I am 8 pounds down this

    I am 8 pounds down this morning so I am feeling better About the prospect.  I was just flabbergasted that I could gain 14 pounds in less than 24 hours.

    Endometrial Cancer dx - lung nodules

    Hello all...I'm new to the board, just joined. I was dx with endometrial cancer on November 1, 2017. Had a full hys, including the removal of both ovaries and tubes on December 8th, 2017. I am now in surgical menopause at the great age of 40!! :) There was no prior history to gyno cancers in my family history. So it came as a shocker. I am still recovering from the surgery and get tired often.  I have always been in shape, cross fit, weight training and good BMI. Unfortunately, since this dx, I feel my whole body has changed in a matter of weeks! I was told that my CT Scan showed two - 3mm nodules one in the lower left lung lobe and another in the middle upper right lobe. Along with a shadowing in the center of my chest. I get shortness of breath and have a constant cough.  My oncologist/gyno want to repeat the scan this March, as it will make 3 months. Can it be possible...that my cancer has metastasis? I was dx with Stage 1A. Grade 1 with lymphovascular invasion, limited to the uterus. The current course of treatments are just observation , attending all my 3 month check ups. Thoughts?

    Get a second opinion if it is

    Get a second opinion if it is showing up in different places.  It should not be a wait and see period for three months. My opinion, trish

    Yes get a second opinion!

    it may turn out to be nothing and I pray it isn’t but waiting 3 months shouldnt be an option.  There isn’t any reason for you to have to deal with the anxiety for 3 months.  You might want to post a separate message to this board and ask advice from these lovely ladies about how to be an advocate.  The ladies are a wealth of good information and understanding!

    Ehmmmm, as I know, after a

    Ehmmmm, as I know, after a hysterectomy you have to gain in weight, however it is not that much. I have gained something like 2.8 punds overnight, which I was thinking is pretty much, however when I have read that you gained 14 pounds... well, something might actually be wrong.

    Run, don't walk to a gyno oncologist for a second opinion.  I was diagnosed with USPC stage 1a in October 2018, with LVSI, had 6 rounds of carbo and taxol, 32 IMRT and 6 brachytherapy radiation treatments.  So far, so good.  Nodules and shadow would scare me.
