Ultrasound results

I got my u/s results from my GP today. (I asked the hospital to send her a copy) Endometrium is only 8 mm, thankfully. I am so relieved. Bladder is normal so she said nothing further needs to be done regarding the 'full' feeling, "for now", whatever that means.

Weirdly, they couldn't find my ovaries.

Thank you so much for all the support and patience you have shown with me. I probably should not come back, given I don't have cancer. I wish you all the very best.

    HorseLvr, while it sounds

HorseLvr, while it sounds like your results are good, don't stop asking and pushing for answers.  I wouldn't wish cancer on my worst enemy so not having it is wonderful. As you see devastated it is to us when we lose a warrior.  Go and LIVE LIFE and take care of yourself.

    Sounds like watchful waiting,

Sounds like watchful waiting, and that can go on a very, very long time. Smile But your gyno might want to do something about that discharge, if you're still getting it. That could be downright annoying. It coudl be a fibroid, for instance. A fibroid is a WHOLE lot better to deal with than cancer! (I know from experience.)

    Fantastic news!

    HorseLvr I would push for a D

HorseLvr I would push for a D&C and  hysterscopy just to be cautious.  Everyone is different and I don’t want to scare you but my ultrasound came back and my uterous was not enlarged.  I had fibroids and oddly enough the technician couldn’t find my ovaries either.  I thought I was clear.  The D&C confirmed cancer and they believe it was caught early and that I won’t need chemo or radiation.  I am just so thankful that I mention to my GP that I spotted once and she sent me that day for a biopsy.  I had my hysterectomy yesterday and  I am pleasantly surprised how well I feel.

i am the type that if my doctor wasnt proactive I would have gone along my merry way.  She may be responsible for saving my life - which reminds send her an email to thank her.

Whatever you decide - good luck for you,

    Strongly agree! My bleeding

Strongly agree! My bleeding was only light brown spotting for a day or two, then it stopped...barely anything noticeable, and it did not recur at all. I still had cancer. My doc says any post-menopausal bleeding needs to be considered cancer until proven otherwise. Also, 8mm endometrial stripe is thick for post-menopause, it should be <4, from what I have read.Get a biopsy, and be sure!

    Wouldn't a fibroid be visible

Wouldn't a fibroid be visible on the u/s? I decided to go see him and have an appt on the 14th, so will ask him about the discharge then. It's no longer a light brown, but clear. I did read that using panty liners all the time, which I was doing, can cause a brown discharge. I had stopped using them a few months ago because they were making the irritation worse and after a few weeks the brown colour went away and it's just clear now.

I'm not sure if I can get

MugsBugs, I'm not sure if I can get past the anesthesia/sedation thing, but I have an appt with him on the 14th.

The u/s also said no masses

The u/s also said no masses visualized, so I take it that means no cancer. 8mm doesn't seem thick enough to be cancer, anyone I've seen talk about theirs it's been in the 20's or 30's. I did make an appt to see my ob/gyn for the 14th and I will ask him then if it is possible at 8mm. If he recommends the procedures he wanted to do 3 months ago (hysteroscopy, biopsy and D&C), I will try and get past my fear of anesthesia/sedation. At my last appt, he said over 1 cm (10 mm), it would be imperative to do a biopsy. At my first appt, at one point he said over 5mm, at another he said over 7mm (I still have the notes he wrote and gave to me). I do not want to have any regrets down the road. Also, have been thinking of Chris and that is really bothering me. I didn't know her but she seemed really nice.

    brown discharges

My gyno told me a brown discharge means "old blood."  It's dried blood that was in the uterus coming out mixing with vaginal discharge.  I had lots of brown blood quite a while back and then it turned bright red which lead me to make the phone call to the doctor.

My D/C showed a thickened endometrium of about 9 mm.  It also showed 3 polyps.  I was not afraid I had cancer.  But I was bleeding with mucus at that point.  After my D/C the doctor came into recovery and said "I'm not worried."  Well?  guess what?  I had cancer.  The polyps tested "atypical endometrial hyperplasia." that means pre cancer.

Please be pro active and really look into this

    Wow, I didn't think 8-9mm

Wow, I didn't think 8-9mm would be cancer! I know mine wasn't blood, it was more a very light tan/brown, not dark like dried blood. I do get some bleeding here and there, have for years. Some of it is spotting, sometimes it's heavier than that. My ob/gyn said not to worry, that bleeding from cancer tends to be continuous not sporadic. I had never heard that before. (I should have asked him why the tests then!)

    Endometrial Thickness

My ultrasound reported an endometrial thickness of 7.3 mm.  Fortunately for me, my gynecologist proceeded to a uterine biopsy, which found my cancer.

The last thing I would ever want to do is scare somebody, but in all honesty, I just dont think something smells right.  I am not a doctor for sure but I went through this stuff for about 5 years and we know how I ended up!  Sometimes they just don't take us seriously.  BTW, I am changing gynocologists.  Mine is just too lame for me.  Found one my oncologist recommended for checkups now that I have had  my hysterectomy.

I started out with a 9mm endometrial lining and she gave me Provera 10mm to bleed out my uterus.  The lining went down to 3 and she called it "tissue paper" thin.  Everybody was happy.  Then about 2 years later, bleeding again.  And then another D/C.  My second one.  By that time, I was getting pissed off.  Who wants to go into surgery all the time?

Then I got told "nothing really was up there."  So why did I have to have another D/C?  I started to think she was just making money off me.  And then a few years passed and this November, it hit the fan.

I gushed blood one afternoon before going to the gym.  At first I figured polyps because I had those with the first D/C with the 9mm lining and they were not malignant.  And then the next day, gushed blood again.

I don't agree with your doctor that continuous bleeding means cancer.  My bleeding was off and on.  I would forget about it for years. And after that November 17, D/C she said she wasn't worried.  She was dead wrong.  I had cancer and nobody knew it.  I went about my business.  The bleeding had stopped completely.  And I forgot about it.

I felt fine the whole time.  And then when pathology came back, of course she NEVER called me so I made an appointment and she told me "atypical endometrial hyperplasia" which is a thickened endometrium.  She never did tell me how thick it was so I don't know but she did say I had 2 polyps that she said looked cystic and needed to be removed.

I got so disgusted with her I told her I wanted a hysterectomy.  So that's when I found the gyno-oncologist because she mentioned that dirty word "pre cancer."  I dont' think much of her.   And she sat on her chair and said "You don't have cancer, you don't have cancer," 2x.  Yeah right.

Dr. D. did a total hysterectomy and pushed for an early pathology report and I HAD CANCER.  So she's toast.  And last week she called me for a refill on my anxiety pills and I asked her rather sarcastically if she read my pathology report seeing I had Dr. D send her one and she said "No."  That's how much they are interested.

I told her "By the way, I HAD CANCER."  Silence from her and then a shreeek like "Eeeek~"  She goofed.  Always told me I did not fit the criteria.  There is no criteria with cancer.  It doesn't discriminate who gets it and who doesn't.

She said over weight women get it, well, I'm skinny so that makes me immune?  baloney~  I had risk factors she ignored.  I never had children, never been pregnant, started mensturating at age 11 and my grandmother died at age 56 of ovarian cancer and so did my cousin.  So no stone gets unturned in this situation.

If you know you aren't being taken seriously find someone else who will really listen.  This ain't no joke for any of us.  I should have had that hysterectomy years ago!

Oh wow, Karen, that is pretty

Oh wow, Karen, that is pretty bad. Did you not have a D&C and biopsy after your first u/s? They should never have given you provera without ruling out cancer.

My ob/gyn's comment about cancer bleeding continuously floored me, given I had read otherwise. Thing is, though, he is taking it seriously. He told me that any post menopausal bleeding is considered cancer until proven otherwise. He's also told me he's very, very worried about me because I am high risk. (overweight, diabetic, no children, high blood pressure) Though he's also said the same thing to me that your dr did "you do not have cancer". I think he was trying to get me to stop worrying until it's time to worry.

I don't know why, but my GP lied to me when giving me my u/s results. She said the endometrium was thick and when I asked how thick, she said the report didn't say. I asked for a copy of the report and I read it later and it said 8mm. I have no idea why she would lie about that. Unless she scanned it so fast she missed that part.

It is so good that we have the internet to research for ourselves and to talk to others who have gone through the same thing!
