Had my surgery on 12/21 removing entire left kidney. Doc said the surgery went well and I guess felf like he got it all. No reason yet to expect more elsewhere after surgery and previous CAT scans. Yet I'm anxious to get the pathology report and I guess learn the grade. He said I'm clearly stage 1 and for that of course I'm thankful. Just read too many stories of this disease being sneaky and coming back so wanting to learn how aggressive it is based on my report. Just a bit nervous today. Surgery sites are all healing albeit slowly and I get tired very easily. Havent left the house since home from the hospital and been resting, which has been good. Wishing everyone here a Happy New Year and you all are always in my thoughts and prayers. Thanks. Steve |

Pathology
I just finished my visit with the doctor and he confirmed that I was Stage 1, Grade 3 with clear margins. He was very pleased and suggested followup blood work in a month with a CAT Scan in 3 months. I asked if that was all over including lungs and he said no, not this time. I told him I wanted it to include my lungs and he was fine with that. He is referring me to an Oncologist but said I should be good with just monitoring it for now. I am relieved for sure but this is a life changer for sure on going. Still, I feel blessed. Thank you for all the support here.

Scans and such
just my two cents; it’s great that you are considered stage 1 but grade 3 red flags for more frequent scans and an RC oncologist.

Agree
I agree I am concerned about the the grade 3 part; although he stated that would be more of a concern if I had only had a partial kidney removal. Since the entire kidney was removed he suggests it's not as relevant. But, I am going to see a RCC Oncologist and intend on frequent monitorings. Thanks.
