Hello Everyone!

My mother had a follow-up ( her 2nd) PET scan for a tumor in her lung and some lymph nodes.  Her doctor said that the PET scan showed the cancer is gone, but her NP said it shows that there has been no change in her cancer.  It's hard for me to tell what's going on.  The report never says whether the tumor has shrunk or what size it is.  It says No Hyperbolic Activity.  They are continuing her chemo as usual.  We are totally confused.  Can someone help me understand this report, please?

Findings:  Chest:  No pleural effusions, focal consolidations, or pneumothoraces.  No hypermetabolic pulmonary masses or suspicious nodules. No new or enlarging pulmonary                                   nodules.

No new hypermetabolic or enlarging axillary, supraclavicular, mediastinal, or hilar lymph nodes.

To me this is saying no cancer seen. Am I reading this wrong?   Thanks so much for your help!

The only thing that I see thats confusing is the word NEW in the following sentences.        No new or enlarging pulmonary   nodules  and      No new hypermetabolic or enlarging axillary, supraclavicular, mediastinal, or hilar lymph nodes.

I would ask the dr to explain everything clearly to you, we are the customer and we have a right to understand what are tests results mean.  I wish you and your mom well.
