Waiting game can't eat

Good morning ....I am real new and will be getting my colonoscopy hopefully asap next week. Was in ER this weekend stomache bloating blood in stool and have a weired throbbing in or near rectum. I can't eat or drink due to the anxiety that what's ahead. Headaches and not wanting to get out of bed is over taking me . with history in my family I know the news will not be promising . my question is the feeling of not wanting or can't eat is this the depression taking over me or should I be even more alarmed. I have sat up for most of night can't sleep reading this God sent forum.

I went into the ER after

I went into the ER after saying goodbyes in case I didn't survive and spent about 16 hours there doing examinations, blood tests, scans and a colonoscopy (I was lucky the GI guy was there and had time to do me). Everyone was sure that it was cancer though but the confirmation came a few days later. I dropped about 13 pounds in the next two weeks because of anxiety and I'm pretty sure that everyone here has had that anxiety multiple times. There's the anxiety waiting for the diagnosis and staging, the anxiety before chemo and/or radiation, the anxiety before surgery and the anxiety before adjuvant chemotherapy. There are others as well - waiting for scans and bloodwork to confirm that it hasn't spread.

And I can say that you shouldn't be anxious but we can't help it. What might help is if you did something to take your mind off it (still hard, I know), like going out, visiting or chatting with friends, working out if that's your thing. Do know that there are treatments for the various kinds of cancers and the various stages and they can be quite effective. Many of us are going through various stages of treatment right now and we'll be around to chat with you IF you have cancer. That's not a given right now.

    The yellow seems peculiar,

The yellow seems peculiar, right before diagnosis I was having streaky blood and what seemed like clear scabby tissue in some stools, but yellow sounds like fat or bile to me. Maybe if anyone had a similar incident, they'll comment on it here..................................................Dave

    The wait on colonoscopies

The wait on colonoscopies seems to be dependent on how busy the doctor is and the queue for them at the hospital. ERs aren't really set up to do them and there is a one-day prep that you're supposed to do before the colonoscopy. Basically you don't eat anything and you take a bunch of laxatives to clear your digestive system out so that they can see up your digestive system without stuff in it. You might be able to get on a waiting list for cancellations or choose a different hospital that can take you sooner. I understand the distress as I could feel my tumor growing (in terms of the pain that it caused).

    Anxiety is the worst

Glad you found the forum.  It should bring you some peace to know so many of us are fighting this fight, and have been in similar situations as you are now.

Try to sleep and just take one day at a time.  You are in my prayers.

    Common

After finding blood in my stools it was a nightmare of racing thoughts in my head.  It's going to be a whirlwind of emotions until you can discover what it is that is wrong.  Once you get to know what is wrong then the dust seems to settle and you get scared, angry, then determined.  Not eating is a very common symptom to people that are distressed, but it can also cause a reverse action to make people eat more.  ER is not recommended for a colonoscopy, but you should get with your doctor to get you in as soon as possible.  I'm curious as to how long you have had these symptoms.  If it's something just new it could be possible it's just hemrhoids that are causing the bleeding.  Talk to your doctor and get him/her to get you a scope ASAP.  Wishing you the best.

    Honestly I thought I was

Honestly I thought I was constipated one day ..6 weeks ago and would poop some but still felt not all the way . so MOM gave me a clean out but I still have that full feeling . made appt with GI then the weekend before GI appt had horrible lower back pain and pelvic cramping ...that was 2 days then day of GI appt really just had that bloated lower pelvic feeling . went to gyn had US but all they seen was small complex cyst and said that would cause all the discomfort. Then next appt was GI and he just scheduled for colonoscopy . I have been looking at my BM probably last few weeks but only really noticed the blood this Saturday morning . stomache still uncomfortable and full feeling and my rectum feels like ...trying to describe...like a little pressure like it you are going to pass gas at times. Blood was in poop not when I wiped. Then of course at ER visit all they did was bloodwork and CT on abdominal pelvic area. Sent me home. Yesterday still couldn't eat nerves shot and had 2 BM which were a little clumpy loose but I didn't see the blood but then it wasn't solid like Saturdays. I'm worried because it doesn't seem anyone here had the bloating discomfort feeling like me. Iv never been in pain except the two night of horrible lower back pelvic cramping ..its just been that uncomfortable feeling .

    Did the ct say anything?

i mean it could literally be gas or constipation causing the full feeling. Roids could cause bleeding and feeling pressure too. When I went to the er in July I had an abscess that caused fever and low back pain but the ct showed a mass

    Ct did not show anythimg

Ct did not show anythimg which has me worried it is the colon or rectum ..I mean it showed a ovarian cyst I knew about and they mumbled something about thinking of a wall . I still have that feeling of bloating and lower back aching here and there . I would love to say I'm happy CT was clear but then as I lay in hospital with time to.think then that means definitely colon related . I'm on NPO now so I'm thinking scoping some time today. . I read your post earlier and already said my prayers for you. Thank you for your concern and responding

The CT can cover quite a

The CT can cover quite a large area and that's how they found the mass in my rectum. They did CT to rule out spread to the lungs and liver for me. Could you ask them what they did the CT of? Did it cover the colon and rectum?

When I asked about CT they

When I asked about CT they were like didn't show anything but you know the colonoscopy is what is going to tell us....and with my nerves I just keep shaking my head like a bobble head. I did a loose BM and was waiting to hear from lab if blood is in it..I can't look anymore it makes me more crazy . I just keep praying of course no cancer but if it is I pray we caught it we fix it we live.

    Great news, MW!!

So happy all those tests have come back negative.  You are blessed.  Now, let's pray they figure out what's going on!  Worrying is so hard on us all physically.  But I know it's hard to stop sometimes.  I hope you have support from family & friends.
