1mm to 8mm Nodule Growth

I have to start by saying, In 2008, I found out I had a lung disease called Sarcoidosis. While having multiple CT Scan's, they found a 1mm nodule in my right lung. 2010, I was diagnosed with Stage 3 testicular cancer that spread into my lymph nodesin my stomach. Fast forward to 2017, after having a CT Scan, that 1mm nodule has grown to 8mm.

My first onocologist told me that, if my cancer came back, it would start in my lungs. With that nodule growing from 1mm to 8mm, should I be concerned??? Seeing a new oncologist on Wed, Aug 9th.

Thanks.

    Nodule Growth

I have been battling ling cancer since 2006. Based on my experience, your oncologist will probably want a biopsy. Please do not worry about the biopsy. I have had two of them. Look up the biopsy post. Above all, do not worry. This cancer "head game" is so distressing. Try to focus on the positive and be sure to tell your new oncologist everything you can to help and tell him/her about your concerns. These oncologists have a very difficult job to do and we need to all we can to help them help us. You have my best regards for your continued recovery.

Update : So, my PD didnt tell

Update : So, my PD didnt tell me everything. I not only have a 8mm nodule in my right lung, i also have a 4mm nodule in my right lung along with a 3mm nodule in my left lung. My oncologist had me get labs done and he and my pulmonologist ordered a CT Scan.

They didnt sound too worried, should I be worried????

    Too early to worry. Most

Too early to worry. Most nodules are benign. They will keep an eye on them with CAT scans to see if they grow. If any do, they will biopsy when they reach a large enough size to be biopsied. Wishing you all the best.

    Test Results

I always get a copy of the radiology reports.  Most of the time I get them before I see the doctor. The hospital here will release them to the patient as soon as they are ready. I understand that some facilities will not release them until you see the doctor.

I always get a copy of the images on disc media.

    Best Regards

    Biopsy

My husband fought cancer for 5 years when he passed.  We found out the last time he had a PET/CT scan that he had small nodules in his right lung.  Our head and neck specialist wanted a biopsy and he had to fight to get it done because the nodules were very small.  They did get a biopsy, collapsed his lung which inflated without any problems, and it was a spread of his cancer.  The stupid second oncologist we had said that since he wasn't having any problems, no treatment and his second primary at the cervical of his esophagus had returned but this oncologist thought nothing about that.   By then my husband said enough was enough and refused all treatment.

I would get a second opinion and I would want a biopsy.  I am now facing the results of a CT scan with contrast on my heart that showed a small mass in my right lung but they feel it is nothing to worry about.  I will be getting a second opinion because my husband was a pipe smoker and I was around that smoke for over 40 years.
