    Kidney cancer and Vietnam Veterans.

    Dear Friends:
I am resending this Veterans' petition with a better link.  Many have told me of difficulties with the original. If you have signed it I thank you
on behalf of many Vietnam Vets who are suffering from or have died from kidney cancer. If you have not signed, you can be part of the solution by
signing it. If you have any questions e-mail me at rafael10212@me.com or you can call me @ 305-342-1062.  I can assure that the incidence of renal cell
carcinoma (kidney cancer) is much greater in the Vietnam Vet population than the population at large. This petition will go to Congress and they
can put pressure on the VA. The way VA is handling this is "DENY, DENY UNTIL YOU DIE." V‪ietnam Vets you could be next, I am also a Vietnam Vet who
suffers from this disease, join this effort.

Surgeon documented kidney removed due to agent orange dioxine

I served in Vietnam. My kidney was removed due to a tumor. The surgeon documented the tumor was caused by Agent Orange Dioxine. However, the VA declined my claim. Said I need more supporting documentation on how surgeon came to that diagnosis. Still waiting for that. Does anyone have supporting documentation that they can share with me? It sounds like- in other posts- those that were successful with VA to get disability - saw multiple doctors. If so, can anyone share specific specislists Or Doctor names with me? Should I ask the surgeon to refer me to an expert urologist?? should I ask for referral to other specialist?

Does anyone have any supporting documentation or research connecting agent orange and kidney cancer??

This is the first time Ive ever posted and appreciate your time.

    Thank you!!!! Happy Christmas.

    AGENT ORANGE

I was a physician on an Indian reservation which was sprayed with agent Orange.  I developed right kidney cancer.  Where did you get the statistics that it is usually the right kidney that develops cancer.

    Agent Orange and Kidney Cancer
I am a 62 yr old male that served in Viet Nam 69-70. According to the spray map we were in the heaviest sprayed area. In 2005 I had an emergency appendectomy and the cat scan also showed a growth in my left kidney. I went through numerous tests in the radiology department and they concluded no cancer. I went one step further and consulted a urologist who suggested after tests to have the left kidney removed and yes it did test positive for cancer. Two years later I was laid off and lost my health insurance so I went to Veterans in Denver and was excepted. My doctor has continued follow up since and I started reading up on agent orange. I brought it up to her and immediately she pulled a little white book out and showed me that the VA does not recognize renal cancer as a condition of agent orange but low and behold every organ around the kidney ie: lymph nods, prostate, liver, lungs and even diabetes. Every article that I have read suggests that
the kidney cancer vet get legal representation and usually has a good chance of collecting. Well not all off us have the resources for this. This just sounds like a typical goverment cover up to me.

    Mikelp,

Don't give up.  The lawyers' fee is taken from the lump sum payment you get when you win your case.  No fee otherwise.  Try Hill & Ponton PA on the web.  They are well established and have a lot of good info on their site.  I am in the process of filing a similar claim as I had my right kidney removed for a tennis-ball sized tumor in 2014 and have a fast growing lesion in my lung that will be removed on 8.18.17.  If it is another type of cancer, I may have an easier time, but if it is the spread of renal cell cancer it will be harder as you have found out.  I spend four months near Saigon and the rest of my year in Thailand where they sprayed withint 100 feet of where I slept every night I was there.  Seems like a clear case, but we shall see.  Hang in.

    Hey
This is my first time posting. My father was one of the members in that research study. Unfortunately, he was the one that passed away. There are numerous research projects showing that kidney cancer is related to Agent Orange. It would really help my mother out if she was able to receive benefits. She has already made a claim. So I guess we will wait and see.

    Studies on AO/Renal Cancer

You mention that there are other studies.  Are there links you can provide or info to get access to the studies.  The only one I can find is the one from LA VA.  Any assistance will be appreciated.  Thanks.

I lost my left kidney as well due to cancer I sevedin Vietnam 1967-1969. I too hve also aquired type 2 diabetes. I am bein compensated for the diabetes but no the kideny cancer. I think it is wrong too. Ibelieve there is a connection to agent orange. I had the surgey in 1987.

    Kidney Cancer

If you received 100% for the diabetes diagnosis, that would be all that you would get anyway.  Don't know of any case that pays more than that regardless of how many disabilities one has.  Just a thought.  You may not be missing out on anything in this case.

Kidney cancer and lymph node cancer
I was in Viet Nam in 1968 and 1969. I had my right kidney removed in november of 2009 and 18 lymph nodes removed in november of 2010 , one had cancer , I applied with the VA but was denied I have filed an appeal and am waiting for response . I am now writing letters to doctors trying to get them to say cancer could be caused br agent orange.

    Kidney Cancer and AO

I have been doing research because I had a nephrectomy of the right kidney in 2014 and now has a fast-growing lesion on my left lung that is suspected of being cancer as well.  It comes out on 8.18.  I found eight cases on appeal that were successful and every one of them has strong medical testimony that cited studies and medical evidence that suggests that it is more likely than not that there is a medical nexus between Agent Orange and renal cell carcinoma (particularly, the clear cell type).  Here are the case numbers so you can look them up.  No names mentioned so it's not a source for people to testify for you, but by reading the appeals board's rationale for approving the claim, you get an idea of what you need to get from your doctors.  Hope it helps:  The case numbers are within the first 52 cases listed so you can just run the search for renal cell and they will be within the first 5 pages of cases listed.  Not hard to find them.

Citation Nr 1506922, Citation Nr 1508535, Citation Nr 1532034, Citation Nr 1613314, Citation Nr 1627711, Citation Nr 1635750, Citation Nr 1641178, Citation Nr 1700660.  Here is the link that gets you to the case list.  https://www.index.va.gov/search/va/bva.jsp  You can access all the decisions relating to Recal Cell Carcinoma by just inserting those three words in to the search box that says "the exact same phrase'.  Hope it helps you.  I think these decisions provide the key to winning.

    agent orange and kidney cancer

[This is a re-post for suz, in order to keep the subject together and not scattered across randomly named threads.]

Hi, my husband is a Marine (no such thing as an ex-Marine) and served in Vietnam from 68-72 with a year in Vietnam. Quang Tri and Dong HA, Da Nang. 9 years ago kidney cancer was found by a fluke and we were lucky. Marvin lost a kidney to cancer but it does not stop there. Since then he has developed many other health issues of which the VA claims no responsibility. I have researched every thing I can about AO and one of the things I have found was AO was mixed with jet fuel so the AO would adhere to the foliage and it also adheres to humans who walk through the foliage. Jet Fuel has a large component of Benzene. Benzene causes Liver, stomach, kidney and esophageal cancer.

We have hired an attorney and he is sure this will come through in two to five years. Also if anyone was stationed in camp LeJune you need to quickly seek out an attorney who can help you file to be part of the class action suite that is in the works.

    Good luck to you
    suz

    Agent Orange and Kidney Cancer

    Hi Suz,

I am preparing my case for connection between renal cell carcinoma and AO and your message tripped my alarms.  Can you possibly send me the information about the mixing of Jet Fuel with the AO?  It would be terribly helpful as we used to sit in our barracks in Thailand while they were spraying and complained about why they were using jet fuel and how it had the potential to start a fire...not knowing at the time that it was AO that was being sprayed with it.  Please send any info to tom@starkwood.com  I am not on this site very often and would not want to miss your posting of the information.  Thanks.

    Kidney Cancer
I had my right kidney removed and a cancer removed off the left kidney in 2006. I submitted a claim with the VA and it was denied of course. I served in Vietnam in 1970-71 with the Army. I have given up disgusted with the system like many others. I know I was exposed to agent orange because it was used to remove vegetation around Landing Zone Betty. Mike

AO may not be the only link.

As former Navy I served on ships from 82-90.  No agent orange exposer that I know of, but I would curious if there might be other common links such as aviation fuels, oils, and cleaners? The list of chemicals we who served were exposed to could be fairly extensive.  By the way mine was also right kidney RCC.   I wonder if the incidence of renal cancer in service members is higher than the general population?  Not a statistic that the DOD would want to admit too I am sure.  I wonder if there are non-governmental agencies that might be tracking this?

I just had part of my right

I just had part of my right kidney removed because of cancer. In Vietnam they would spray an area, to make it safe to drop our 105s. They also dropped 500 and 1000lb bombs just before the dropped us in.

these made craters from where we would draw our drinking and cleaning up water.

Petition to Add Renal Cancer to Agent Orange List of Diseases

The following link will take you to a petition on White House web site to add Kidney Cancer to the list of diseases linked to Agent Orange.  We need a lot of signatures by 8/29 to get their attention.  Please spread the link to your email and Facebook friends.  There is also a veteran's alert posted at www.Politichicks.com

Decisions granted on Kidney Cancer claims

Eight out of the last 52 cases decided on Kidney cancer claims were granted.  Not a great percentage, but what seemed to be present in the granted cases and absent in the denied cases was clear and complete statements from doctors specifically using the words "the cancer is more likely than not due to exposure to Agent Orange and/or similar pesticides."  Go to https://www.index.va.gov/search/va/bva.jsp and search for these Citation numbers:

    Citation Nr 1506922;Citation Nr 1508535;Citation Nr 1532034;Citation Nr 1613314;Citation Nr 1627711;Citation Nr 1635750;Citation Nr 1641178;

    Citation Nr 1700660

In the cases where the opinions differ between doctors, the benefit of the doubt goes to the veteran.  Also look for studies on pesticides with similar ingredients to those in AO and see what you can find.  The Agent Orange is really a knickname, not a scientific name.  many other pesticides have similar chemical hazards.  TCDD is a key toxin (dioxin).  Hope it helps.

Also served in I corps 1968 and 1969 Alpha 1/26.  Had a partial right side nephrectomy in 2011.  But after Nam I went to Lejeune and drank the poison water for a couple of months.  Kidney cancer is service connected to the contaminated water at Lejeune.  Too many of us have a history of this and other cancers.  Best wishes
