Just looked up my husband's dr....~$29000....do you think that would influence him to give my husband a certain drug over another one?

    Interesting Link For Sure

Thanks for posting.  My old oncologist got $10K, $33k, $13k in 2013, 2014, 2015.  Seems to be related to research/consulting.  On all the drugs he is not in top 10 nor is MSK.  It is not suprising, he teaches at a medical school, does presentations throughout the world and the rest.  Looking at the breakdown also across various places, no year was particularly concentrated on a drug or company.

My new Onc got $3k in 2013 and $300 in 2014, broken down in minimal grants for research.

I guess there may be a point where payoffs could influence a doctor.  And there is of course no clear cut indications of where it could occur, but someone with a reputation like my first onc working at a place like MSK, particularly for payments of that amount (I know what I got billed for my chemo ;) )  I doubt it would cause an undue influence.  On the second onc, there is nothing there either for me to raise a flag to me.

    Influence

I think it is good to have the information.  Whether the payments influence the doctor's decisions is a question to which I do not have an answer.  Of the three doctors I have seen, one took no money and the other two took about $1,200.

    HI

this is only until 2015. Does that mean that they havent take any more money or that they haven't reported? I wish I will know if they have taken any money lately.

    Time lag

It looks like they last updated the site in December, 2016, so if they follow the same pattern it will not be updated to include 2016 information for another five months or so.

    Probably Due to Reporting Times

And processing of the data reported.  Data could not be reported in full for 2016 until a tad over 6 months ago.  As SB indicated there seems to be a delay pattern.  If your doctor was on the list, chances they will still be on the list.  Check the details of what they were paid for.  One of my doctors had amounts for consulting which were somewhat high for a couple of years, my other had minimal grants one year that dropped to nothing the next basically.

    Good resource

I know that MSKCC doesn't accept "free samples" from pharm companies so they don't push one drug over another. I did find out that my Oncologist, Nancy Kemeny took $36!
Maybe there is a free lunch after all :-)
