    Almost 1 Year out -Update

It's encouraging to read so many responses. Next month will be 12 months for me since treatment stopped. I will have a petscan to make sure it's still gone in April. My last two cervical exams showed no cancer.  I've been back to work since June of last year. I'm not back to 100% yet. I've been very anemic and been through some more test. The radiation damaged my colon and was causing me lots of stomach problems and bleeding issues. I had a colonoscopy in Feb 2013, the doctor said the radiation damaged capillaries and when they grew back they grew back at the surface and just bled constantly. Doctor said he fixed about 80% of them. I've notice the bleeding stop immediatly and my stomach issues whent away as well. I'm still anemic but hopefully that just take sometime to work it self out.

One thing I'm having some issues with is I'm still so tired. My legs hurt from my hips down, all the time. Walking is an issue for me. I'm overweight and have been my whole life, but they weren't like this before the cancer. I wasn't tired like this before either. It's really all I can do to get through the day. Even at night my legs ache. I talked to my family doctor and the oncologist and they really don't think it's from the treatment. However the PA at the Oncologist office told me she was a radiation nurse for years and it doesn't suprise her. They can't stop damage of the good stuff and she's seen lots of nerve damage. Any one else having this issue? I hope and pray that I can get back to before the cancer. Getting through one day without pain would be great too. But I'm not ungreatful for where I'am. I'm happy I beat this, and so glad to be alive and still able to work.

Those of you just starting your journey, you can get through it. The path may look ruff and unbeatable but stand strong and beat it! I still look back and can't believe I did all that I did to get me where I'am today. My family, friends and personal relationship with God are what got me through it.

    After effects

it's so reassuring to read about all these ladies n their problems.  It does help to have company, so to speak.  I am clear of cancer, so far, but ditto the bowel problems with bleeding.  So scary.  It's been a lot worse since colonoscopy.....various biopsies were negative.  Any more gals out there w this problem?

    Complications of the cure.

I also am cancer free, for now, but suffer from many bowel issues due to radiation.  So embarrassing, but better than having to write my will.  Anyone else w chronic diahrrea and intermittent bleeding w clots?  (UGH! I know.  Sorry.)    Has anyone had to use medicated enemas to coat the bowels?  Does it ever end?  Or just get worse n worse?  Thanks for any comments.

    Bleeding and Backpain

    Aloha Chel,

I am 35 years old and just had an appointment with my obgyn. I’ve been bleeding heavily for three months now Accompanied with lower flank back pain. Right and left aide. My doc sent me to get labs, and has scheduled a transvaginal ultrasound for a few days from now. I’m feeling quite terrified. My question is, your bleeding and back pain. Was it all of a sudden, achey or sharp pains... My mind is racing and google has become my worst enemy.

Anyhkw, thank you so much for sharing your story! its truly inspiring! Lots of Aloha,

    Gabby

Hokulani, it looks like Chel has not been logged in to CSN since Feb 2016.  I don't know if she still logins or not, but I am a visitor from the Uterine board, checking on our fellow gyn sisters, and wanted to give you some advice.

You are doing everything you are supposed to do to find out just what the heck is going on.  I know it is scary, and you are right that Google is your worst enemy - Dr. Google did not go to any med school - so you need to avoid going there.  Try to take a breath, getting the testing is the first step, just push your doctor for answers.  IF, and you don't have any results yet, if it turns out to be cancer, you want to be working with a gynecologic oncologist.  First things first.  Tests and results - and that is exactly what you are working on.

    Thank you for responding!

    Good Morning,

I just wanted to thank you for responding. The assurance that I am taking the right steps forward in figuring this out is encouraging. I have yet to receive pap results however I did receive my blood work. The only thing flagged was my RDW: low. Ultrasound is in two days and I’ll follow up in one week with my OB if she can’t get me in earlier. Anyhow, thanks again. I appreciate you taking time to write.

    Aloha,
