    they embolized

my kidney. By blocking the blood flow to the kidney, there will be less bleeding. Makes surgery easier for all. Of course that means they will remove the whole kidney. that is not a big deal either. Never missed mine once. My kidney function with one kidney is as normal as a 20 yo. Seems to me you have some good things to look forward to.

Thinking about you and your husband. I am sure the surgery will go just fine. This is more common than you think - but still scary!

Hang in there, we are here for you!

So sorry your family has to

So sorry your family has to go through this scary time. I hope you have good family support. Your husband will have pain, no doubt. Pain can be managed though. Just be there for him and do what the doctors tell you after surgery. If they say he needs to get up and walk around, help him do that. I'm a nurse and I know how important it is to follow post op instructions. I've also had my kidney removed and I'm not the bravest when it comes to pain. When I needed pain meds I took them. Also question your doctors. Ask them why or ask them to explain if you don't understand something. Some doctors have a bad bedside manner with zero people skills, but these doctors are sometimes the most skilled. If you are uncertain about a doctor, ask the nurses which doctor they would go to if they were sick. Accept help from anyone who offers. People don't generally offer help if they don't want to help. Take them up on it. I'm thinking of you and your husband. I hope and pray his nephrectomy will solve this problem.

It is going to be ok.

Stay calm. Everything is going to be ok. I had a 12 cm tumor and my left kidney removed almost 2 1/2 years ago. I thank God that everything has been great since. I didn't need any orher treatment and all of my scans have not shown problems. I have a very busy and active lifestyle today. Recovery from an open radical nephrectomy was painful and took some time but I got through it with God's help.

I don't post here to often but I am happy that you found us because this is a wonderful support group where you will find encouragement and latest news on treatment, etc.

Praying for your hubby and the family. Keep posting and God bless you.
