Hi All,

Been a few weeks since I posted.  My oncologist wants to do radiation and chemo at the same time.  Is this normal?   I worry my constitution won't hold up for both simultaneously.   Let me know how you did it please?  Was it as the same time or one at a time.  What works best.  I believe perhaps a lymph node may be affected in the recurrence area.

Is this a result of the second opinion you wanted?

Hope you are now working with a doctor you have confidence in.  I've not had chemo so can't comment on that.  Are you being referred for external or internal radiation or both?  I've had external radiation twice and had no side effects at all except some fatigue at the very end.  What is it about your "constitution" that you feel won't let you face the treatment?  Have told your doctor about your concern?  It's certainly normal to be fearful at a time like this.  However, coming here and hopefully getting some feedback should help.  But also, please share your questions and concerns with your medical team.  If you care to share your diagnosis, including, especially, what grade and stage the cancer is, that might help people here give you some useful information about their experiences.  Best wishes to you.  Oldbeauty

Hi OldBeauty- Diagnosis stage 1A, Grade 2 Endometrial Cancer

I have a local oncologist in the area I live and she is very agressive and has been working with top institutions in the area.   She recommends six weeks radiation and Cisplatin.  I worry about the Cisplatin due to oxotic side effects. I already have tinnitus and don't want it to get worse.  So much one can take.

My diagnosis is Stage 1A Grade 2 Endometrial Cancer

Prissy, glad to hear you got a second opinion and like your new doctor.  Again, I had a similar diagnosis to yours in 2005 and had surgery and external radiation.  With recurrence in 2012 I had more radiation and have responded well to hormone therapy.  I am in the minority on that score.  I don't doubt that chemo is ahead for me someday since I don't think they talk about "cure" when the disease recurs.  They hope to treat you with a protocol that lets you manage the cancer as a chronic disease.  There are ladies on this board who have lived for years in this way.  I hope you will continue to gather your info to make the best, most informed decision on what's best for you.  I wish you well in your journey. Oldbeauty.

    Stage 3a Grade 2 here

    Hi Prissy

I was diagnosed with Stage 3a Grade 2 endometrial adencocarcinoma after a routine hysterectomy in Sept of 2005    My treatment at that time was Carbo/taxol  I was allergic to taxol so they switched to Csrboarbo and gemzar   Then I had 3 brachyyhetspry HDR radiation     They are always changing the chemo regiments and I have heard of doing them together

I had a recurrence in 2010 discovered by a biopsy but after surgery it was only found in one lymph node   I did not do treatment at that time as the node was removed and took a wait and see apptoach

I currently have a mass which we have been watching for over a year   It is PET positive in parts but the part they biopsies was negative    I did develope a kidney issue from the long term effect of radiation

I have learned to ask many questions and to get second or even third opinions if necessary.   With my recurrence my one doctor told me it was inoperable and that I needed to start chemo right away   He was one of the top docs at the hospital I went to    he also told me I would probably have a permanent colostomy   Well I went elsewhere   Had surgery no chemo no colostomy and the mass they removed at that time ended up being negative

I know that doesn't happen all the time but it can   If you feel confident with your doctor that's terrific   My original doctor had retired and it wasn't until after that I had problems

    My best to you

    Kathy

    Hello Moli
    My previous mass

    Hello Moli

My previous mass was near the rectum which could be felt on an internal exam.  That one tested positive but after surgery was negative.   I currently have a mass (now 6 cm x 2.9 cm) that is a peri recital mass that is by the bladder and rectum.  I ended up with left side hydtoureteronepyrosis which requires me to have a ureter stent.   The stent needs replaced every three months.   I will need to do this forever or until either i have a replanting of my ureter or the mass removed.  My guns/onc did not want to remove mass and I was just going to do the implant surgery but my case came up at a meeting recently and he has decided that he wants to be in on the implant surgery.  He will take a biopsy of the part of the mass that is PET active so that we can once and for all be sure the darn mass is not cancer.  I will get anothet PET scan in Nov and talk with both the urologist and the gyen/onc to see what is involved. I will probably have this surgery at beginning of Dec since I have met my insurance deductible

just the implant surgery is a 3 day hospital stay.  If I have the mass removed I have no idea how long.  My last surgery it took 45 minutes just to remove the scarring and stuff to reach the mass. Thats why my gyne/onc didn't want to do surgery.

my contention was I didn't want to do the implant surgery if I was going to end up having to have the mass removed later.

    My my best to you

    ((Hugs))

Gosh Golli ! or Golli Gosh!!!! Prissy777

The kitchen, the sink and the pantry together ? your poor body will be pissed. I think.

I think you will need Jesus and a whole lot of arrowroot porridge too.

Please get professional opinion from a radiation oncologist that is not affiliated, quickly.

We'll be with you all the while, pls. let us know the final decision by you or for you. Nuff love.
