    When I looked at proton late
    When I looked at proton late Summer 2009 they quoted me about 35,000 out of pocket and my insurance would not pay. Then you have your living cost in SOuthern Ca. for about 7-9 weeks.

    I know they say about 35 treatments but I've read they machine breaks down alot and they have to reschedule you.

    I also checked with the new center in Jacksonville Florida and they told me about 100,000!!

    I went Davinci since my insurance paid for that.

    Prostate Concerns & Questions

    Got over renal cell carcinoma - Clear Cell with partial nephrectomy.

    On post surgery  MRI follow up at MD Anderson, they found an area on the prostate too.

    Did the DRE, Endorectal MRI, and now just got through with the MRI/US fusion prostate biopsy.

    (The names of these tests keep getting longer!)

    I have the op report but not yet got the path report.

    Although I don't thave that path report I am still trying to prepare for and understand the potential direction/choices I may have available to me.

    This will help me be able to formulate and make informed questions/decisions. 

    With my ongoing treatment at MD Anderson, anyone out there had radical prostatectomy at MD Anderson via Divinci?

    Any recommendations as to the best doctor there for robotic prostatectomy surgery?

    Not that I am going to have it, but I want to get in with the highest/best recommended doctor with that specialty.

    When I get the path report I want to be able, if necessary, to request  an appointment with the  doctor who has the most / best success rate.

    I believe your post queries about the Number One "mechanical" surgeon of MD Anderson. You may think him as the best person to get advice on your future treatment, however, without the biopsy results and image studies or a clinical stage, nobody coult tell such a doctor to be your solution.

    In fact bias is common practice so surgeons would recommend surgery to every PCa case as much as a radiologist would recommend radiotherapy. A medical oncologist specialist in PCa may be your best choice.

    In any case, you should look for the "best" diagnosis to verify your true status. I recommend you to look for second opinions at secondary facilities.
