Moving Forward

I had a CT scan on Wednesday, which was the first one since February 2013, when a PET scan showed I was in remission. I then proceeded with 2 years of Rituxan maintenance, which ended this past February. Friday, I saw my oncologist to discuss the findings of my CT scan and discuss what next.

He handed me a copy of the CT scan report and stated, "This is an excellent report". Then he went over it with us, finding by finding. He also went over all my blood work--complete blood count, metabolic profile, and LDH. Everything (except sodium) is in the normal range for the first time in almost 3 years. He then did a physical exam and everything checked out just fine. I don't need to see him again for 4 months, at which time I will have blood tests and a physical. He encouraged me to be diligent in checking myself for swollen lymph nodes and report any of the symptoms I had in the beginning.

The most thrilling part of all this is: I get my port out! Yay! He has already referred me to a surgeon.

Meanwhile, I have joined a LiveStrong program at the YMCA. It is a free 12-week program for cancer survivors to help rebuild strength, endurance, and more after the rigors of treatment. It is an excellent program. I love it and I encourage all to seek out a program in your area.

Best wishes to all,

Rocquie

Congratulations on the good news. I am 2 treatments away from finishing my chemo (first time). Then I will be starting on the Rituxan maintenance. I hope when I finish my Rituxan the report is as good as yours.

    So happy

I am so happy for you.  There is nothing like the remission word.  I have been in remission since June 2, 2009.  Everyday is a blessing.
