    Got the cath removed this morning.  The RN did a few "urine control tests" which I did well on.  Basically, my prostate removal went as easily and well as any man's can.

    The pathology analysis of the removed gland was nearly identical to the biopsy results from months ago, except that it changed slightly from a Stage pT1A to a pT2A N0, which is insignificant at this point. There were no "positive margins," which is surgical terminology for when the cancer is touching the edge of the gland or organ.  That is, the disease absolutely did not get out of the gland.

    All that is left for me regarding the prostate now is urinary contol, so this little episode in my health adventure is mostly over.

    Thanks to all for the kind regards, both here and via the private e-mails.  Clinically and statistically, it is not a highly dangerous surgery.

    There is an old saying among sub sailors: "It's a safe way to live, as long as the number of surfacings equals the number of dives."  A lot of surgery is safe, as long as the awakenings equal the number of sedations.  Planning on a perfect match  !

    Please visit more often; not many roses in this frigid winter !   Could be way worse: My brother-in-law is in New York, up the Hudson, where they havn't seen the ground all winter.

    I haven't been here for some time now but today decided to check up on you and was very happy to hear the good news. :) I really hope this will be the end of any kind of cancer or anything even close to it...

    Deeply appreciate it, Natasha.

    I hope so too.  I have my first post-surgery PSA test next Tuesday. It should be 0.0.  The surgeon said that the pathologist in the E.R. said nothing was on the edges of the gland, so it should indeed be the end of this prostate thing for me... In TV terminology, this means they "got it all."

    I responded to your other post, and it is wonderful !
