Remember when I was all freaked out because I thought two months was to long to wait for surgery. I just looked at the calender and realized now it is only two weeks out.  Haven't heard a peep out of the doctors office.  They said the hospital would call to schedule pre-op I am waiting to hear from them.

    Don't worry

There should be a "flurry" of calls coming soon to schedule everything in for the week before.  In the meantime, enjoy your summer and try try try to relax.

But as Iceman said, call them if you have ANY questions or concerns.

    Ask LOTS

Of questions.  Tell them any concerns or fears.  Make sure you understand everything and everyone....then go home and start stacking books, dvring tv shows, stock fridge, and relax (as best you can).  Sooner than you think you will be on the "otherside" and recovery begins 8-)

i think the worse part of the prep for me was Sunday...having to not being able to eat and taking the "system cleaner-outer". Yuck.   8-p. I mentioned to the nurse that if I don't eat I have been known to be a real...****... He just laughed and said that's why they'll put me to sleep!  Funny man 8-/

thoughts and relaxing wishes to you for the weekend

    Hi

Okay well that was stressful.  I go to pre-op this morning to get ready for my surgery and I find out some things I find alarming.  One they have it in the paper work I am having a partial when he told me it was a full. Actually it reads partial vs. radical, so they have no idea what they are doing until they OPEN me up.  Yep it's open.  Not laparoscopic like I was hoping for.  I need to woosa, woosa.

I have all my instructions I know what I need to do now I just have to report Monday morning at 5:30 AM.

Pre-op consisted of a urinalysis, blood work, blood pressure, EKG, chest X-ray.  Lots of information and questions.

Now I have my handy cleaner.  Waiting on a call from the Doctor to straighten out what exactly he's doing.  He had first said partial, then said full when he called me back.  Now it says both.  Stumped.

    partial vs. full

    Mellie,

Sometimes its a game day decision which can change in the middle of the game.

    It will be fine

Mellie...my forms said both because he said he wouldn't know for sure until was in there.  As for open vs robot, i had an open partail and it went well.  was back to running, swimming and such 2 months after ...BUT only walked and did no lifting for those 2 months after (tough with a granddaughter to hug).

Breath deep, try to relax, and know when you wake up Monday you will be ready to get on with your life.

We are all here for you.

    Hugs,

We will be thinking of you

We will be thinking of you tomorrow.   Make sure you have a pillow to hold to your abdominal area if you need to cough or sneeze.  I also used it when I first started walking in the hospital.  Walk as much as you can in the hospital; it will make you stronger.   Tell friends and relatives NOT to make you laugh!

I think you will be amazed at

I think you will be amazed at how easy it is...  a bit of pain the first day or two.. then it gets better and better.  Hopefully they will pack you in pillows.. Just be careful of that motorized bed.. fast movements can give an extra shot of pain... take the pain meds.. you will only need them for a short while..  Then heal up and think of moving forward.. all the way home again..!

    Hear from you after....

Wishing you the best and hope

Wishing you the best and hope it all goes well and you'll be on the road to recovery in no time. My open partial wasn't awful either; not too much pain and I was up and walking the same night (well, not by choice, they kicked me out of bed, lol.) Try to do the same. The sooner you're walking the sooner you'll be out of there. Plus it helps keep your lungs clear and clots from forming.

    Upcoming surgery

    Mellie,

May the surgery go well without any complications. The next few days are not going to be fun. Gradually things should get better each day. By next summer you should be able to show those surgical dimples off at the beach.
