Where's Shoopy?

I know Karl said he planned to take a break from the Discussion Boards after his SCT, so I am not surprised by his absence.

I miss Karl and hope he is doing well. And moving forward with his plan to live forever. . .

    I sent him a message

It shows he last logged in on May 27th, yesterday.  I sent him a message later yesterday but haven't heard back.  I assume he's recovering and we'll probably here from him soon.  I wish him well also.

    Getting There

I've been checking new posts etc. but haven't had much to say.  I'm still in Roswell at Day +31.  Everything is looking good on the transplant side.  My counts are back to "normal".  The only thing I'm dealing with is something called the BK Virus.  I had to look it up on Wikipedia.  Once I get this taken care of...I'll be home!

    More to come...

My plan is to live forever!  So far; so good!

    A big relief

Thanks Karl, we can all breathe again.  I will check out the BK virus but just happy all is going pretty much as planned.  Hang in there, we are all hoping for the best.

    Hey Stranger!

Overall, it sounds like things are going well except for the BK issue.  From what I read, it's the result of your immunity being minimized during your SCT and is likely to improve as your immune system rebounds.  It is also treatable with some drugs .  Many people have the BK virus but it doesn't present a problem unless immuno-compromised.

I hope you get to go home soon and great to hear from you!

You are correct, Jim.  They already tried both drugs on me to no avail.  So, as of yesterday they have lowered one of my immunesupressing drugs.  The trick is to avoid graft-v-host by lowering it.

Thank you everyone for your concern.

    Karl passed away...

    Hi Mike,

Jim got this message from a friend of Karls and then shared it with us. You can find the message if you scroll down in the news feed. It's such a sad thing...thought you would like to know.  Sue

It breaks my heard to share this but I just got this message from a friend of Karl (Shoopy):

"I am a friend of Karl.  I know how much support he felt from this site and I think he would want you to know that he passed away on Saturday.  He was loved by so many and I know he died feeling that love.  His plan was to live forever ... and he will ... in our hearts.   Please share this with those who you feel would want to know.

Best wishes and good health to you."
