The founder is a stage IV stomach cancer survivor and her story and efforts to offer help and information to other stomach cancer survivors is inspirational. 

With regard to surgery vs. diet you really need to seek multiple physican opinions on what's best for you. I elected to have surgery as everything I have read led me to believe surgery gave me the best chance of long term survival.
