Had my 6 months scans today, got the green light so I am good to go! Needless to say I am pretty cock-a-hoop about that!! By way of celebration we are all going out for a slap up meal and a couple of bottles of Saint Emillion to wash it down with:) Djinnie x

Great news!
I think cock-a-hoop and a slap up meal is indicated. Is that a good thing? Sounds french. I know a couple bottles of Saint Emillion belong in the celebration. I hope that's more like champagne and not perrier. Kidding aside. Good for you!!! Make it happen every 6 months.

Cheers!
Haha! Thanks Fox! there was not much in the line of Perrier flowing last night, although the way my head felt this morning perhaps there should have been! It was certainly a night too remember, unfortunately none of us can:)

What the???
All the slappin' & hoopin' & drinkin' sounds kinda kinky to me...How does one get invited? Seriously, great news and a party is in order...CONGRATS!!!

Oh yes! You know what it's
Oh yes! You know what it's like when you live in the back of beyond, where there is little entertainment. You have to be blessed with a good imagination and the ability to improvise! Unfortunately! there was a little too much drinkin and a little less slappin and hoopin for my liking!
Had a terrible head this morning, made worse by my other half, who got up at 7am to cook bacon and eggs. The smell of food and him singing "It's a New Dawn, It's a New Day, It's a New Life" came so very close to ending his!

SIX month scan
Congrats....just wondering if you know, why do some wait for 6 months to get the first scan and others only wait 3 nonths. I have to wait 7 months for the first scan. Do you know if its related to the pathology report or just the level of healthcare service and how crowded it is.

That is great news DJ! Keep up the good work! Throw in some dancing and things will be set! Sounds like an invitation to a party to me! Good going!
JKNorth... Others will chime in but my thoughts about the rate of scans depends on your pathology. How big the mass was, the grade, the type etc. If they say wait seven months maybe they don't expect to find anything and feel you will not have any new mets. I have heard of 3 months, six months and a year being the normal. I have not heard of 7 months. Are you following up with an oncologist and not just the gp or surgeon? Be sure to see an Oncologist, they would usually order one sooner. If you are seeing one then maybe you don't need the scan sooner. Usually the best route is to have a whole body/ct pet scan. All the best!

Love your spirit
Dj-love your spirit! So happy for your good news. I'll be looking for good news myself, come early December. Till then, I'll try to limit how much time I spend each day, thinking about it. I've never been one to obsess over things...especially things out of my control, but my experience with cancer and now, the after effects, seems to creep into my head at any given moment during any given day. Perhaps a bottle of Saint Emillion would do me good

Glad to hear scan #! went well. It always appears to be the first major hurdle we have to jump after the surgery.
And on that note, I'll end. Happy celebration(s).

Clear Scans!
Thanks for all the support! I am hoping we are all starting as we mean to go on, nothing but clear scans! No more celebrating for me until Christmas and New year, then I'll probably push the boat out a bit!

Great news on your scans. You were one of the first to 'welcome'me to the site back in April. I am due for my 6 month scan next month and am now getting just a little bit anxious. I am recovering well, just got back from 3 week vacation visiting family in England. It was a long trip on my own but I made it. Scooted about all over in a rental car. Didnt think too much about any health issues while away. Kinda back down to earth now.
Again very pleased for you, you are such a great help to others on here. Bless you!

Hey Scottie!
Oh my word Scottie!! How nice to hear from you, and you are doing so well too! Gallivanting off to those 'Green and Pleasant Lands of Home' on your ownsome! Where did you scoot to? I am betting you had a great time there:)
The first time we went back home after 11years, I could not believe how much it had changed. Also after driving on Texan and then French roads, we couldn't get over the amount of traffic, particularily on the outskirts of London. Over here the roads are so quiet, you almost want to give a welcoming wave when you pass another car. When driving in the UK, you forget how much the roads wind and how narrow they are. It's a killer on the old arms, constantly turning the steering wheel, and of course you have to get back into driving on the other side of the road! We always have to remind ourselves of that when we hit the first roundabout from the port! I do miss the old place though!
All the best with your scan next month, what date is it?? I will be sending you a bucket load of positive thoughts, I am sure you will do just fine:)

Green and Pleasant
Hello Djinnie, good to hear from you. I had a great trip, the journey is long, all the way from the west coast of the States to Manchester, England. So worthwhile at the end though. I make the trip every year, usually in September. This year I booked in late March just weeks before I found out I had a kidney problem. Howvever at no time did I consider cancelling the trip, I suppose you could say that it gave me something to aim for - that and a visit from my son and family back in June.
I did get around a lot while there: Lancashire visiting with sons, Lockerbie, Scotland with sister, then Ayrshire and Fife to visit friends. Most of the journey is on motorways, need your wits about you but the small towns are somethng else. Narrow streets, haphazard parking, leaping pedestrians, all part of the fun. Oh yes and roundabouts, almost unknown here, goodness knows how folks who haven't experienced them before manage. I really don't have trouble switching to driving on the 'other side' but occasionally get in the passenger side and wonder who stole the steering wheel. What a lovely thought driving on roads so quiet you want to acknowledge and wave at passing vehicles. Funny thing it brings to mind a trip years ago that hubby and I took to the Scottish highlands. We rounded a corner to see a car with French plates with caravan in tow meandering on our side of the road . So long ago it was before the European decals. Happy days!
Anyway next month, kidney ultrasound is on the 13th (superstitious much?) appointment with surgeon/urologist on the 19th.
Thanks as always for your kind and positive thoughts.

You certainly did a lot of scooting around, I am glad you enjoyed your trip. The weather is just changing now there is supposed to be a major storm front coming in, they are predicting it coud be the worst on record. I am hoping it doesn't come this way, we live in the middle of a wood.
I will be thinking of you on the 13th, keeping my fingers crossed. Let me know how you get on wont you! Take care:)

Thanks Brian, how are you doing? Is that dog of yours getting to enjoy longer and longer walks? It does take a while to regain your energy, but going for regular walks certainly helps the recovery process.
