Has anyone else experienced insufficiency fractures after radiation therapy? Mine was found (after weeks of pain!!) on my PET scan. The pain began in Jan. of this year in the left hip-lower back area and has now gone into the right hip. My oncologist gave me an IV of Reclast several weeks ago and it has not helped the pain. She is now checking into a sacroplasty, injecting cement into the fracture. It's awful to be 54 & walk like I'm 90!! Babe |

I'm sorry you are going
I'm sorry you are going through this. Pain is no fun. I know that this can happen with radiation. I hope they find something to help you. Hang in there. Hugs.

Thanks for the hugs
Right now it's just heavy duty pain meds, but I can't take them if I plan to drive anywhere. They do lessen some of the pain, I just wish it was completely gone. I hope you are doing well. Have you heard about your PET scan yet?

Fractures
Right and left sacral ala fractures of the sacrum that will not heal Caused by pelvic radiation in 2012. Would not recommend external radiation without discussions in regard to bone quality. Quality of life post radiation with these fractures is POOR.

It sucks to hear the quality of life with these sacral fractures is poor. After going through the grueling chemo, radiation & surgery, I was looking forward to getting better, then the sacral insufficiency fractures happened. Two steps forward and fifteen backwards....
