Wearing Stabilisers

I go for my first post op appointment from having my partial nephrectomy on Thursday. I have to admit to feeling a bit wobbly, I am wishing it was not on my to do list, but there it is right at the top and underscored.

I know that the first tumour I had ten years ago was slow growing. It is only since coming across this site that I have come to realize there are different types. There seemed to be little discussion about that my first time around.

This new tumour is the same as the first one and it seems to have appeared around 5 yrs after the first op., but was missed.Unfortunately, during later scan check ups it was deemed to be a scar from the first operation. It was fortunate for me that it was queried recently and an IRM was performed, which clearly showed a tumour on the original site.

I have gained a lot of information from reading posts on here,I feel more fully informed this time around. The appointment will be a little difficult with the medical jargon, as our French is not quite up to par on those terms. I have all my questions prepared in French and I just hope we fully understand the answers.

The language barrier can lead to a lot of confusion. I remember not long after coming here, I went to the Doctor with stomach pain. The French language does not have very discriptive words for pain, either it is petit douleur or grande douleur. Of course in English we have a large list to choose from. I had tried to get across to the Doctor that I had a stinging type of pain, I did what I thought to be a good impression of a bee stinging my arm. I later picked up my prescription to find some anti spasmodic and some cream for insect bites.

Anyway, I am grateful to you all for the information. I am praying for a good result and the hope that the cancer is gone for good this time.
