For Stage IV survivors with continuing progression - what chemo combo is working for you?

Just trying to get new ideas out there for those of us who have to keep trying new chemos to stop progression.

We are usually jumping from one chemo to the next after the Onc decides it stopped working.  Let's share our traditional mainstream chemos and experimental or non-traditional cocktails with one another.

I've been on Folfiri + Zaltrap every two weeks since October 2012 and the progression stopped.  Lately, it's been tough to recover from one round of chemo to the next.

Back in October 2012, Onc said if this didn't work he would probably try Regorafenib.  But that was then, this is now.  There may be something else out there.

Thanks for sharing!

Ron

Are you looking at clinical trials, Ron?

There's a thread on trials over at the Colon Club, with people on a couple of different drugs that have had good results (actual reduction in tumors, and both the people posting had pretty significant spread when they started).  Wish I had other ideas for you...at this point, I've only heard of the ones you mention, in one combination or another.  AA

    Very similar path

I had a rough time with Zaltrap and took it for about 5 months before the onc took me off of it because it wasn't stopping the progression of the mets to the lungs. It keep the colon and liver under control though.  I've been on Stivarga sinceJanuary. I had scans done on weds and get results on tues. very concerned about these results because don't know what else is out there. Keep in touch and pray there will be answers for us.  Jeff

sorry that you are needing to search for something that will work good for you. i was dx dec 2010 , surgery jan 2011 & then i did folfox as a mop up jan 2011-july 2011.  dx june 2012 with mcrc in 5 areas.  i did 12 tx of folfiri with avastin. that really worked for me. i did have to have hipec  ( feb 2013) bc the avastin & folfiri could not completly get rid of the cancer in the peritoneal & rt ovary. i had a spot on my liver & also 2 abdominal tumors ( each over 3cm) that the drugs got rid of before surgery.  the peritoneal tumors were greatly reduced---largest was over 3cm & it went to 12mm.  i hope you find something!

    hugs
