Hello, I am new to this forum. I am 71 years old and was just diagnosed with cancer on both kidneys and on my pancreas.  I had my dye scan on 1/31/13 and that confirmed the areas that are affected with cancer. On 2/7/13 I had a biopsy to confirm the type of cancer that I had. After seeing a urologist on 2/20/13 he referred me to an oncologist for treatment.  The oncologist decided to treat me with Votrient. After jumping through a few hoops I received the Votrient and started taking it on 3/1/13.

My next scan is on 5/1/13 and I am keeping my fingers crossed that the Votrient is working.  So far I haven't had any side effects.  My hair is already white so I don't expect much change there.  In the meantime I'll keep on doing what I do and hope for the best.

Joe

Welcome Joe.  You seem to be taking things in your stride and you'll get plenty of useful friendly contacts here, including others with bilateral RCC.   Also, as you'll have noticed, we have a big thread going on Votrient side-effects which may interest you - but I hope you don't have anything to add to it!  Keep us posted on how you're getting along and ask us all the questions you want to - nothing barred and many replies to be had.

    Votrient

Thank you for the reply.  I am on day 7 of Votrient and feeling fine so far. I saw my oncologist yesterday and he said that my blood work was excellent, which meant, I believe, that there were no toxicity issues.  I have blood work in one week and doctor again in two weeks. He may increase the Votrient from 400 mg to 800 mg.

I am trying to catch up on the posts regarding kidney cancer and Votrient.

I don't see it slowing you down at all. There is lots of catching up if you are so inclined. You also look like you've had a few rounds of golf under your belt. Do well my friend.

    Hi Joe
I'm sorry you had a need to join this forum but glad you found us. It sounds like you're tolerating the Votrient really well which is great news! I'm wishing you all the best!

    Hi Joe,

Sorry you've had  to join this exclusive club but think you'll find this Board has some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. I'm just an auxiliary member (as a caretaker) but know I can come here to ask questions and have my spirits lifted when need be. Hope you find it as user friendly in those same areas.

Good luck. By the way, my husband (John/one putt) is currently in a Nivolumab/Votrient clinical trial and doing very well.
