Anybody having stress bladder incontinence after pelvic radiation.

I have been having stress incontinence for the past couple of months. Started with a nasty sinus infection where I was caughing and sneezing up a storm. I read where this is fairly common after pelvic radiation. I don't have any bleeding or vaginal discharge just the occasional loss of bladder control when I cough. I was afraid the cough was a recurrence but luckily, it is from sinus problem that makes me have a tickle in the back of my throat if I don't take my allergy meds. I have my next check up in Jan and will mention it to Dr. Levenbach.
Wondering if anyone else has had this pesky problem?

    Hey Norma! I have had some stress incontinence for years(from having 10 and 11 pound babies!), but it did get a little worse after the internal radiation. I did talk to the dr. about it, but it was "just another complacation of surgery and treatment". Gee, thanks! Best, debrajo

    Yep.
    I didn't have radiation or any adjunct treatments, but my pcp feels my symptoms are because I had pelvic floor surgery. Anyway, I'm now going to see the urogynecologist because I've been having stress incontinence, urge incontinence, needing to get up to urinate as much as 6 times during the night, occasional feelings of not fully emptying my bladder and occasional cloudy urine. Oh joy! I'm not concerned from a cancer standpoint about my symptoms, but I really don't want to have these problems! Grrrrrr.

    It is just irritating, isn't it? I trot to the bathroom 5-6 times a night too. Maybe I will count it in my exercise program. Thanks for answering. I am sorry you are having the same issue. Drat.

    I have something similar and after I had my total hysterectomy in '09, mentioned to my OB about having to go to the bathroom in middle of night approx 4 times. Told me probably they've shortened the "urethra" during surgery, which is normal with this type of surgery.

    Plus I did have external pelvic radiation and have issues with my stomach. Have to watch what I eat as can cause gas and pains...darn! I'm a huge raw veggie/fruit eater and at times overdo and ouchie not fun.

    Who said aging would be fun, then add on a cancer diagnosis with treatments!!!

    Happy to be here and figure just part of life!!!

    Wow 10-12 lb babies....and from what I can see on your picture here, not a large woman. Vaginal birth?

    My husband is 6'2" and was 10 lbs, but his parents were tall....dad 6'4", mom 5'11"

    Do you have any issues with certain foods you eat affecting your stomach, knowing we both had radiation (mine external)?

    Figure just part of the treatments and getting old...

    yes,vaginal! My daughter,
    yes,vaginal! My daughter, the largest, was also 22 in. long! Had a five week preemy that weighed 9.13! Lettice, onions, fish, and milk will make me have severe stomach distress. Milk was the only problem pre-surgery. I didn't have external rad., but had 5 internal rads.There was some problem during surgery that caused the dr. to remove 1/3 of the vagina before they made the cuff. The dialator didn't help. Maybe that's old age related. The dr. told me that UPSC tends to favor an atrophed uterus and is not hormonal. What were you told? I was a 1a,c so it had not spread. Best, debrajo
