I have an appointment with an Oncologist for a second opinion on my diagnosis. He wants' to review my biopsy slides. I am picking them up from my urologist this week for my appointment next week. Does anyone know how I will be receiving these slides? Do I have to keep them refrigerated? My Oncologist is at the Cancer Institute of NJ, is any one familiar or know anything about this institution?

    Still Have My Slides
I picked up my slides from the Pathology Dept at Kaiser San Francisco over 2 years ago and still have them.

Each of the biopsy tissues on the slides is securely sealed and labeled. No refrigeration is required. The 10 slides that I received came nicely packaged in plastic slide holders (5 each) that the slides fit into perfectly with very little internal movement.

I mailed the slides in the plastic holders in a small box (w/lots of packing material in it to prevent damage) across the country to Johns Hopkins and they simply returned them to me in a FedEx envelope w/o any cushioning material w/o suffering any damage whatsoever.

Don't know anything about the Cancer Center of NJ.

    Good luck!

Swingshiftworker, Thank you for your response. I received my slides the other day. One thing that I do not understand is the Dr. took 12 samples but I received 15 slides. Any idea why 15? I will check with my Dr. when I get a chance.

    Additional Slides?
Could be because they wanted to take a closer look at suspect parts of one or more of the 12 tissue samples.
