Swelling

Hi Ladies,

I am still about the same with my recovery. But now I have a new issue, I think.

My feet are swollen, I noticed it a few days ago because it hurt to bend my foot. Now I need to lossen the straps on my normaly to loose sandels. Also my tummy seems to be a little bigger. I cannot tell if it is new swelling or from the surgery ( I don't think so).
Is it possible to have the ascites come back after the surgery? I looked pregnant before surgery, now my tummy is starting to look fat. I am planning to call my onc in the morning to get her though on this.

Also, I have had some weird cramping type of chest pain that comes for a bit then goes. Anyone had something like this. My hubby thinks that it is connected to the swollen feet.

I am just feeling overwhelmed with all that keeps coming up.

One other question, could really low blood counts cause the swelling?

Any thoughts would be so helpful.

Thank you all.

Hugs
Lisha

    Hi Maria

I am still waiting to hear from the docs. I put in a call to both the onc and the pcp. I thought it might be helpful to get two opinions. So far, the phone remains quiet...

I'll let you know what I find out. I am trying not to worry to much. Hard to do.

    Hugs to you

    Dear Lisha
I hope you've gotten some answers from your two docs. Let us know what they say, when you feel up to it.

    news :(
    Hi Ladies

Well I did see my doc today and I have mixed news.

First, the swelling has gotten worse. The doc thinks it is either from my heart or my liver. My liver count is very low. I had an ekg today and will get an echo cardiogram next week. The doc is leaning towards the liver, but because of the chest pain, he won't rule out the heart. So no real answer, just some new paths to follow up with.

I mentioned about my counts all being so low, well they have not moved at all. The doc said it's time for transfusions. So, that is now in the process of being setup. It does mean that I will have to be admitted to the hospital overnight. I will receive between 2 and 4 units depending on the hct level. They will need to run the blood in very slowly and pre treat with various meds to prevent reactions. :(
I am feeling a bit down about all this. I had so hoped that my bone marrow would kick into gear and start doing it's job.
It is what it is and I will get through this too. But I am sure ready for some positive news and to feel better. Hopefully the blood will help with my lack of energy and feeling so crappy.

The pain at least is being managed with the meds. So that is a positive. Hooray.. I even had a few times where I took a little less than was prescribed.

Thank you all for your continued prayers and positive thoughts. You ladies are the very best!

    Hugs to all

    Darn it!
I'm so sorry that you may be having issues with your heart or liver. I'm praying for a good outcome from your ekg and echo cardiogram and a good game plan from your doctor. I'm praying too that the blood transfusions are just what your body needs to kick start your bone marrow. I know it's no fun being in the hospital but sometimes it's the place we need to be to get the best possible care.

You so deserve some positive news; I'm banking on you getting some really soon!

    Big hugs,
    Kelly
