    Joe's Bucket List
you're all going to think i'm totally crazy. But, i've been thinking about my list for the past two months while being off work. In March i finally went back to work, so i think about my bucket list a lot less. But, i had taken time to do my thinking, resarch and had typed out the entire list in early March. So, i posted this post to get people thinking and to gather more ideas... so... here's my list (Yes, i'm a bit crazy) In my career i've always had lists of what equipment and technology to buy and I've always been big on business plans and goals in life and business. So... enjoy this and i hope this provides ideas for others.

    Joe’s Bucket List
While fighting cancer, many thoughts go through my head. I think a lot about my past and the future. My top things on my bucket list is to see each of my kids graduate from college. My next top event is to be there for any of my kid’s weddings. And, walk Kelly down the aisle at her wedding. (she's 11 now)

    Why a bucket list?
Because the more things we have to look forward to and the more things we have to dream about and plan… the more filling life will be. Let’s not let life pass us by. Let’s make our bucket list and lets live life.

A couple big questions to think about are:
    • Have you found joy in life?
    • Has your life brought joy to others?
But, let’s not just stop there… how many times can we bring Joy to ourselves and to others.

My bucket list should be individual goals and ideas, as well as things for Dana and I and ideas for our family to experience together. These events will bring joy to each of the six of us as we experience the new or unexpected. And, we should also include extended family whenever possible.

Sharing our experiences with family is top priority and we will create life long memories, laughs and grow together. When possible or when the event is right, friends can join in our bucket list.

By sharing our bucket list with others, we will bring joy to them as they begin to explore their thinking and hopefully improve their life and family life.

Hey Ron- From what I understand, you've had a rough journey post cancer but I remember the saying, "any day above ground is a good day". I imagine that may be incorporated into your greeting "G'day". Reafirm to yourself that if your still here to greet someone, it's a good day.

As wierd as it may sound....
    I'm living mine!!!

    (Maybe I should explain....)

My bucket list is rather short: Do things that make me happy....

I am so blessed with good health right now, considering that most of 2005 I was looking at the world from a hospital bed (stage III rectal, followed by stage II breast...with plenty of bowel obstructions from my surgery...)....so, I travel. It makes me happy. And it fulfills something I wished for from my hospital room. Upon seeing the breeze outside stirring the leaves in the tree outside my window, I wished to once again feel the breeze on my cheek. Now, each and every time I feel the stirring on my cheek, I am reminded how far I have come from that time...

And I help people. It makes me happy.

And I feel the breeze on my cheek. It makes me happy.

I celebrate other people's successes. It makes me happy.

Hugs to you all! (yeah, it makes me happy...*smile*)

start on 18, its actually cheap to eat well
i used to spend so much going out eating seafood and pizza and chinese.

everyone of my excess kilo say 50 kgs, must have cost at least $500 buckets a year to maintain in restaurant eating out bills.

18 eat healthy is an easy one and it will make all the others so much more enjoyable.

    great post.

maybe our bucket list gives us hope, certainly gets our minds off our problems.

I want to somehow "see" Mom,
I want to somehow "see" Mom, or "hear" her...I want her somehow be there for me when I'll graduate from high school...or when I'll go off to college...or when I'll get my job...or, although seems insanely far, but when I'll get married...I want her to somehow let me know she has not forgotten about me and still loves me and follows my path along...I want her to keep me strong and hang on...

    thanks Pete

I've learned so much about how not to eat and what to eat from you and from others in this group. I am bringing in better foods every week and have eliminated several already.

Only 4 months into having the colostomy bag so continue to learn what i can and cannot eat. But thanks for all your help and ideas.

you should start a Eat Healthy Survey and start a string for all to read.

it's funny... there are so many good old strings, but i don't take much time to hunt there.
so new and fresh posts are awesome.

thanks again for sharing your story and info.
i want to come across the world and visit you! (that'll be #19)

    See Mom
I read your post and took time to think and pray for you and your family.

A mothers love is the deepest of deep. No mother will ever forget her child, and I guarentee... she is SOOOOO proud of you.

You make your mom proud everyday, and she loves you to no end.... forever and ever.

    Never Had One
I've never had a bucket list. Did go see the movie though and never knew that that's what they called it. I've dreamed for things but never thought about wanting to accomplish something before dying. Just thought about it as if you want to do something - do it. Sometimes people set goals for themselves and then they get depressed because at age 60 or whatever they never did it. My one dream always was to go to the "Holy Land" but I'm not a good flyer so I'm sure I'd never make it unless they knocked me out completely and I'm sure that would never happen. I'll settle for seeing my kids and grandkids and living life. Good luck on everyone's bucket list :)

Not to barge in, Kim....(well, I guess yes...*smile*)
My grandmother was frightened to death to fly....but still she traveled all over the world!

Trains to whatever coast to catch a 'transatlantic' or 'transpacific' ship (they call them 'repositioning' cruises now...and you can get some FANTASTIC deals, if your travel time is flexible.

One you hit Europe, non-plane traveling is easy...trains are good, and fast (well, depending on the country), there are high-speed ferry boats that will take you from one coast to another....public transportation is plentiful...trams, buses....there are bus tours to the holy land....or even a cruise...

So, my darling, do not say 'never'....with a good travel agent (or good web sites like crucon.com for cruises, Vacations2go.com for the same plus land tours) and patience (which we semi-colons all have learned *smile*), you CAN add that to your 'Been there/done that' list!!!!

    Hugs, Kathi

    Thanks
Love the "non-plane" travelling methods. Would love to go someday and maybe you are right, maybe I'll wake up one morning and say, yup I'm going no matter what :)

    My husband and I always
My husband and I always hoped to live in a different place. We both graduated from the same high school and settled in that same small town. We always envisioned we would live for a time in downtown Chicago after retirement. Lisa

    Chicago
My wife and I both grew up in Chitown. Spent most of our lives there. Retired to Arizona because of the winters in Chicago. I had bronchidas the last six years every January. One New years eve the air temperature was 27 below zero, with the wind chill at negative 71. It's definately a world class city - great sports town. When I lived in Indiana and was telling about Chicago's sports,I was asked about ski jumping. Turns out here is an international ski-jump meet in Fox River Grove- a northwest suburb every January. Good luck on moving to Chicago
