We all use the term "roller
We all use the term "roller coaster ride" to describe the cancer journey but it can be one heck of a ride of emotions over the course of one day waiting for scan results. It never gets easier no matter how many times you do it. In fact i think it all gets harder the more you do it which is contradictory to most things in life. Usually things get easier over time and with experience. It just goes to show you how much cancer goes against the natural laws of life.

Everytime i am hugging the toilet sick from treatment I say to myself this is no way to live. But this time I find myself thinking the same thing when waiting for scan results.

They say that stress can contribute to the developement or progression of cancer. It is a vicious circle if that is true when you concider the almost unbearable amount of emotional stress that this "roller coaster ride" puts us through.
    ,,,
I am greatly concerned about all of the stress it puts my family through. I see the pain on my wifes face with bad news and i could hear the emotional releif in her voice on the phone yesterday when i said my scan was clean.

I realized that we hide our emotions from each other out of concern for adding any more stress each other.

Why do they make us wait?
If they only new the stress we went through waiting for those results. I usually find out the same day, but I see so many on here have to wait a week for their results. Can't imagine the stress level involved waiting for the phone to ring. The sad thing is they know our results before we leave the room. I live in a small rural town where the pet/ct scan is actually brought in as a mobile unit almost like a RV, I guess by accident they had the previous person's scan still on the computer screen. Just walking by I could see where there was a pixel for every area of the body, I could clearly see the person in front of me where nothing was "lit" up. So why do we have to wait for a so called expert to read our results. Even someone telling us from a visual perspectve everything appears to be fine would make such a difference. Our group needs to work on this, there is no reason for these long waits. Not fair to us or our families. Tell your oncologist your not leaving until he takes a quick look at your scan, that's what I did, so far so good. chuck
