Aches and Pains. . .

Options
Hi All - I am 4 months (9/9/11) post-op total thyridectomy for papillary carcinoma. I had my Thyrogen and RAI body scan October 2011 and was told all it good. Now, for the past 3 weeks or so I am so tired, every muscle and joint hurts. I take my calcium 3 times a day and my Synthroid (150 mcg) daily. I am not due to go back to my Endocrinologist until May, 2012. I am just wondering if any has had the same discomfort. I am a mother of a 2-1/2 yr old girl and a 1-1/2 yr old son. So they make me tired enough, without this. Any insight would be appreciated. I wish you all well.

    aches and pains
I went through a lot of muscle aches and pains for about the first year after my TT and RAI's. Never could get an answer for it, but it has gotten better in the last few months. I did acupunture during the summer, and found it helped a lot with everything.

I try to walk every day, eat well( though I do cheat and indulge on chocolate).

Your body has been through a tremendous stress - I think it just takes time to let it heal and get itself back into a balance again.

To make sure my calcium does not interfere with my thyroid meds I take it only in the afternoon and evening..

Any chance you can go for bloodwork just to check how things are going? I went every 6 - 8 weeks for a year - even if the doctor didnt tell me too - I just wanted to keep an eye on things myself.

    Good luck

Thank you so much for your
Thank you so much for your info. I think I am going to follow up with my Endocrinologist sooner than May. I like the idea of walking. That does seem to help. Not so easy with 2 small children in the winter. I guess it is off to the mall we go. Thank you again. Stay well.
