My Beloved Don is Gone

My Condolences
You have my deepest sympathies during this time. Don is in a better place and free of pain. For whatever reason, I have found great solace in the poem below. Not sure who wrote it, but I like to read it when I think of my dad (who passed in July from EC)
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free;
I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call,
I turned my back and I left it all.
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work, or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way.
I found that place at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Ah, yes, these things I, too, will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow;
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full; I savored much
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief;
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me
God wanted me now; He set me free.
Take care,

So sorry
Oh Reba, I'm so sorry. Someone (I think Rose)just posted on this board the other day asking if anyone had heard from you.
I too am fresh into this new life. My husband lived just 15 weeks after diagnosis and passed on Oct 24, 2011. I truly feel your pain. I know you're glad Don is no longer suffering but I also know what a hole his passing has left in your life. Somehow, we manage to get through it. Just take it day by day and breathe. I hope you have a good support system of friends and family nearby to lean on.
Hugs and prayers for you,
Rita -

Reba, I am so very sorry to hear of Don's passing. My thoughts are with you.

Dear Reba,
Will definitely keep you in my prayers and thoughts, so sad to see this post. You and Don have been thru a massive struggle and it will take time to heal and have the good memories of Don come back. He is at peace and it is so hard to see someone go thru these last stages. Many hugs from afar. love and peace,

We love you both...
Reba,
you KNOW how much we love you sand now Don is at rests, and what a better time to go to be with the Lord than on Christmas...He will be having Christmas dinner with Jesus, God and all of our others beloved ones we have lost to this horrible EC.
I love you Reba. Miss your posts already, and Don's, too.
GO be what family and CELEBRATE Don's love, light, and life today. Don gave SO much of himself to so many, and THAT will NOT go unrewarded forever, Amen.
I love you

I lost my Bill suddenly one week ago today. Eric has it so right - we must celebrate their love, light and life. Watching them suffer was the hard part and we have to take comfort in knowing that we were there to love and support them for their journey "home". Love to you, my dear. Kim
