I had My right kidney removed on Mar 4, 2011, I came home after afew days in the hospital, just to go back to the hospital, but I am back home now "hope to stay, this time", I am doing ok, just sore and tired and weak, and as fare as I have told , I can eat most what I want as long as I stay away from drinking coke.

I would like to hear from other People, to hear how You all are doing after having Your kidney out?

My wife seems to feel well
My wife seems to feel well but gets tired time to time, especially from doing some activities. Her operation was on April 7th and she gets some pains by the end of the day, but she says it feels like muscle strain. Shew as told she can eat whatever she wants, but we have change our diets drastically. A lot more vegetables, fruits, less red meat, lots of water, and less salt as well. The other day she walked 3.5 miles and was exhausted when she got home. My wife is a big walker. Some days after work, she would meet up with me, we would walk from South Ferry to 156th 3rd avenue which is about 9 miles. She needs to take it easy, which I think is the hardest thing to do. She acts as if nothing happened.

I hope you do well and wish you the best.

Why did you have to return to the hospital?

    Take it easy guys
Give it a few more weeks until you get back to your pre surgery activities. This is not a Marathon. You just had major abdominal surgery. Things do get better and easier, just dont rush things in the first month or two.

I feel real good today, just sore, My Doc. told Me not to lift or do anything but walk as mush as I can.
And ALL of my back pain is gone, it was worth getting My right kidney out just for that.

    Happy for you
I am so glad to read that you are feeling better! I was told no heavy lifting for 6 weeks...I haven't been given any other restrictions as of yet, but I'm SURE I'll get them!
Why did you end up in the hospital again? Were you just over-doing? Well, take it easy, give your body time to heal..Again I'm happy to hear you're doing well...

    Take It Easy !
You get no medals for recovering faster. My surgery was Jan. 17th 2011 and it took four months to feel completly normal. Rest and relax time is on your side, you will feel better.

    Easy does it
Hi Puppetman great to see your post. It's hard to slow down I was searching for some items in my closet and lifted something that I shouldn't have it left me sore for two days. Try to pace yourself and listen to your body rest when it tells you . Stay strong.
  • Hope you're feeling better and slowed down a bit
I had my surgery on April 20, 2011, and I admit it took a toll on me. The Doctor says I'm healing like Wolverine (hence the username) but I'm still going to take my time. This site is great and has a lot of good advice here. I hope you're healing better.
