"What hurts the most"

RASCAL FLATTS

"What Hurts The Most"

I can take the rain on the roof of this empty house
That don’t bother me
I can take a few tears now and then and just let them out
I’m not afraid to cry every once in a while
Even though going on with you gone still upsets me
There are days every now and again I pretend I’m ok
But that’s not what gets me

What hurts the most
Was being so close
And having so much to say
And watching you walk away
And never knowing
What could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was tryin’ to do

It’s hard to deal with the pain of losing you everywhere I go
But I’m doin’ It
It’s hard to force that smile when I see our old friends and I’m alone
Still Harder
Getting up, getting dressed, livin’ with this regret
But I know if I could do it over
I would trade give away all the words that I saved in my heart
That I left unspoken

What hurts the most
Is being so close
And having so much to say
And watching you walk away
And never knowing
What could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was trying to do

What hurts the most
Is being so close
And having so much to say
And watching you walk away
And never knowing
What could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was trying to do

Not seeing that loving you
That’s what I was trying to do

One of those days...

    Thanks Luz
That is achingly beautiful. I miss and love my husband so much, and those words just keep echoing in my heart. This is one of those hard days. I'm working in the yard, which my husband used to love to do. It's making me happy and sad at the same time.

    I miss Vince
I also miss and love my husband so much. Its been almost 10 weeks and I can't seem to get by all the pain of his cancer. I don't want to be in the yard as we always did it together. I am afraid to be alone and scared without him.
We widows are a sorry lot at times aren't we? Cancer just should not be.

    Happy and sad...
    Hi Stargzr,

I also work on the yard, this is something we used to do together. Sometimes I look around and remember him doing this or that. I just shake my head and keep mowing or trimming.

This song does really speak of emotions that we are going through. Take care, dear one. Continue to work on your yard. I feel a sense of accomplishment when I do, and that actually feels nice!

    song/video
    Hey Lucy,
have you ever seen the video for that song? It is such a tear-jerker. I used to cry every time I saw it and that was before my husband died. Haven't seen it in awhile (thank goodness).

    Hi Debbie
Yes, I have. In fact it came out about the time our son was heading to Iraq. He asked me if I liked the song, and what it made me think about. He told me he wanted to make sure he said everything he had to say. I told him, me too. He came home, thank God, but we both were grateful that we did share before he left.

Now, my son and I have just looked into each others eyes when this song comes up. There was a time it meant something between the two of us, now, it feels like it is about him and his dad, and me and my beloved husband.

How are you, dear one? I hope that you are doing better, even if it is just a bit! Take care.
