Oh Lisha, sorry to hear the new meds are so bad. Did you take them with or without food? I would look up the drugs on the net and see if there is any suggestion that the pharmacist didn't give you.

I know one of the drugs they gave me says it works better on an empty stomach. I am thinking it was the generic for zofran but maybe not.

What did they put you on?

Hope you get to feeling better soon !

    Zofran..
    Hi Lisha,
I did some reading on Zofran after you posted your comment. I'm so sorry the meds change is making you feel crumby. It seems like all meds have some negative side effects, so just keep an eye on how your feeling and if it intensify's call the doc. Wish you didn't have to go through all of this...Love ya...Sue (FNHL-2-3A-6/10)

This is a little of what I read about Zofran...

Side effects may include: constipation, diarrhea, drowsiness, dizziness, fatigue, headache, impaired wound healing, itching, decreased heart rate, fever, anxiety/agitation.

    Tired of meds
    Hi Beth,
Since this is a new plan for me, we ( docs ) are trying it till I see them next.
I take the zofran about an hour before I take the nexavar, it's to help with nausea. I am trying to eat so I don't feel as yucky, but today nothing is working very well. Bad heartburn like feeling also. had some applesauce, so far so good.
Hubby just came back from costco with a rotissere chicken for dinner. we will try that in a few hours.
The nexavar can be taken with or without food. I take it first thing then have a small breakfast. Same for dinner.
How are you feeling with all that you are going through.
I'll keep trying to think positve so that I will feel better, if you know what I mean...

    Hi Leslie,
Thanks for thinking of me. Today just seems to be a yucky one. I am feeling a bit better, since I had some applesauce. Not looking forward to the next dose, but for now I am hanging in.

    Hi Sue,
Thats a lot of side effects. I knew about the constipation and take something for that when I take zofran. It's a great drug for controlling nausea. Reading all the effects, I thought how would I know if it were from the zofran, I have so many of them all the time, even without taking it. Ha...
I really think that the yucks is from the new med. It too has lots of SE. I am feeling a bit better, after eating some.
I have to tell you that when reading about your sweet hubby and all the treats , sounds alot like mine. There are some true gems on this earth...We are so lucky.

    Meds
I know the zofran is for nausea, it's what I get for my chemo too. Don't know anything about the nexavar. Assuming the nexavar is a chemo for the thyroid? I've also been living with Tums and doubling up on the pepsid AC for the heartburn (that's been awful)
with this regimen. The first time I did chemo I carried mylanta in my purse and kept a bottle at my desk at work too, as well as the one in my fridge.

Try doing the opposite of what you've been doing to see if there is any change. It certainly can't hurt to try it. I know we've all been told for so long to eat before meds, but sometimes that could be causing more trouble than helping.

What time are you planning on taking your next dose? I'll send up a prayer that your discomfort be taken for just a little while. Don't forget the time change. I'm in Kansas.

    Take care,
    ~Hugs to you~

    Heartburn
Sure wish they could make chemo meds that don't do a number on our stomachs. I have had GERD for years, caused by my RA drugs. I am on 2 to 3 nexium daily with pepcid as a side and still have acid refux. When I was on chemo it was horrible and a year later it's still bad. Last few months I've been waking in the morning with a sore raspy throat. Not good. I see my gastro doctor some time in May. Made the appointment 2 months ago.

Sorry your going through this Beth.

    Dose
    Hi Beth,
Well, I have finished dinner and took my meds. Hopefully I won't feel as yucky as I did earlier. I still have this vague unwell feeling, but am so much better than I was during the day. The costco chicky was yummy and I had two cups of applesauce to go with it. Hubby is walking Lola, but I decided to skip this walk and just take it easy tonight.
Sure do hope that you are feeling a little better. Tomorrow is another day and I hope that we all will feel great..

    Side effects meds
    Dear Lisha,

So Sorry the side effects from the new meds are making you ill. It's the most horrible
feeling. Just wondering, do you get a printout from the pharmacy explaining the side effects?
Sometimes I neglect to read the printout, from now on I will. I hope by now, you're feeling
    better.

On a lighter note. I love Costco. I love exploring each isle, and taste the samples.
I love their rotissere chicken. It is so much bigger than other supermarkets. Is it
$4.99 in California also. It has been $4.99 for many years.

I know you will try and keep positive. I know also, it is very hard to do so all the time.

In my thoughts and prayers. I am so glad you are posting frequently.

    Love Maggie

    Costco rotissere chicken...
I use to fry chicken at least once a week, but after one time eating Costco rotissere chicken my frying days have ceased. We love their chicken and Maggie is right...they are the big, juicy, cheap, and super tasty. We've been known to eat it twice in one week, especially during my chemo weeks when cooking was the last thing I wanted to do. Yummy! We love Costco...NEVER get out of there without spending $50.00 or more..(usually more)..ha!

    Love Costco
I've never tryed the rotissere chicken, will have to next time I'm there. Costco is the only place that I buy any cut of lamb. It is the best. And yesterday I really craved red meat and splurged on NY Prime steaks, wow were they good. Also love their scallops but only buy them when the fish guy is there so I don't have to buy 3 pounds.

Sue, you did make me hungery for fried chicken. Rarely have it as I usually bake it, and it's boring. We try to eat a lot of fish, love it.

    Enjoy today,
    Leslie

    Hi Michele,
Thanks for the tip about headaches. This is my second go round with the zofran. I get headaches a lot , more lately. Just figured it's part of the path I am on right now. I will mention it to my Doc tomorrow, maybe another change is in order. Have a lovely Sunday..
