Maint Rituxan cancelled today

Hi guys,
Well...got my labs done(looked fine) and after seeing my onc he decided to not do my Rituxan today until a new set of scans are done. He didn't like the swelling under my left arm or the tender area in the left breast tisue. He also checked the left side of my neck and said it was indeed swollen. Between the area's of swelling and the headaches I've been having he thinks it's better to be safe and get new scans...he wants pelvic, stomach, chest and neck. I go in on Wed morning at 7:45.Scheduled to go back in to see him next Monday for the results. If the scan is clean, he will send me back to the chemo room to get my second dose of Rituxan...if it isn't...well...I guess he will tell me whats next. He did say if the scan is ok, he would probably prescribe an antibiotic to see if that clears up the sore throat/swelling in the neck. So...thats the scoop for today. Glad I got an early scan time on Wed...I hate doing them late in the morning or afternoon. It will be done with contrast, so lets keep our fingers crossed that I don't light up!..ha!
Love ya...Sue (FNHL-2-3A-6/10)

    Sorry Sue!
Nothing worse than postponing an appointment but this is for a good reason. Hopefully no "light up" Wednesday and you are able to resume your Rituxan schedule. Possitive vibes to you Wednesday morning!

    Unexpected
    Dear Sue,

Sorry you go in for one thing, and get news totally unexpected. Your doctor seems to be on
    top of things, great.

As always, I think of you always, but especially on Wednesday, and next Monday. We are always playing the waiting game. That's the story of our lives.

7:45 AM for a scan. Oh my. I am glad the time in the morning works for you. Even though I
get up early, I am not the type to run out early.

Bless you, stay strong as always. Love Maggie

    Gosh Darn
Oh My goodness Sue you certainly suprised me with your post. I am so sorry you have more tests to do. I thought everything was going pretty good for you, didn't realize you were experiencing swelling and pain in your neck, breast and underarm. And you had been keeping all this to your self.

I'm very glad that your Onc has ordered a complete scan and that you don't have to wait too long to have your results. I know how maddening it is for you to wait, grrrr. Did your Onc order a CT or a PET this time? Lets hope that you are just experiencing an infection that will clear up with antibiotics in no time at all. And that next Monday will be just another Rituxan day.

I'm sending lots and lots of hugs and prayers your way. Try and stay calm, I know it's hard to do, at least for me.

    Love ya my friend,
    Leslie

    Didn't share..
    Hi Leslie,
One of the problems with constantly researching our cancer is reading all of the side affects we might experience. I just assumed(from researching) that the swelling under my arm and tender breast might be caused from the R. The swollen glands in my neck I associated with spring weather..sinus drainage, etc....headaches..same thing..probably weather related. So..I just rolled with it and figured it was best to not jump to conclusions until seeing my Onc. I gave it a month of ignoring, and since it's an indolent cancer I didn't feel like waiting would make that much difference one way or the other. I AM glad my Onc is going to check it all out through scans...at least we will know for sure this way. My scan is CT-with contrast..no PET. Don't know why he always goes with CT, but the contrast will light me up if anything is going on. Ya know...I really think it's all going to be fine.

    I'm with you Kellie
I agree, I did the mammogram first because I was due and breast pain scares me. My mom died of bc and with my cancer already you never know.

Here's my take on the Rituxan side effect thing. Did you have this same sensation during the entire time you did the CVPR. You've been having the rituxan all along young lady. You have already had any side effects I would imagine. You haven't had these problems until recently. Your body changed. Pay attention and quit riding things off. I don't care if it's indolent, it doesn't matter. Speak up, don't worry about being a silly goose, you come first.

Ok I am done getting onto you. Just take it from someone who's had this crap 4 times, what seems minor May be minor. Let your doctor determine, but he has to know about it first! A phone call is all it takes. Please promise me that you will NOT put off for tomorrow what needs done today?

I love you sue, please am I going to have to come West to beat you up???

    Nope..
Nope...you won't have to come here and kick my butt...blue birds honor..ha!!(wasn't a scout)ha! Yes... I am very relieved to get in for the scans in the morning. It will put all of our wondering to rest, and if there is a next time..I WON'T wait to call my Onc. I was just trying to give the R time to do it's thing, but your right...new symptoms always need to be addressed, sooner than later. Ok now...you need to rest and save your butt kickin energy for that little twit co-worker that gave you a hard time. She doesn't want to piss all of us off..hahaha! Love ya...Sue (FNHL-2-3A-6/10)
