colonrectal surgery

in Colorectal Cancer #1
I am having Surgery next week in Philadelphia to remove precancerous polps from the ileocecal valve region. Has anyone had any experience with the SILS procedure where they enter through the naval. I am elderly and this is my first surgery, My husband died of stage 4 colon cancer 12 years ago so I know how horrible this disease can be.They may have to do a right hemicolectomy which i understand can cause me future problems but really have little choice.SILS means Single Incision Laparoscopic surgery.I would appreciate any info on this procedure.

    I had a precancerous polyp
    I had a precancerous polyp removed from my cecum during a colonoscopy, but I'm not familiar with SILS. I didn't know that surgery beyond a colonoscopy was required for precancerous polyps, or even that they could tell that a polyp was precancerous before removing it. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

    I have not had that procedure, but I did have laparoscopic removal of my gallbladder. That was not too bad a deal, so I hope that's the case with this one.
