radiation causing leukemia

Has anyone ever heard of someone having throat cancer and getting leukemia from having radiation? Just posting this question as someone I know said this happen to a friend and I haven't heard of that being a side effect......

    Hi L,

    It's Candace, I know that in the waiver for RAI treatment (at least for my doctors) it states it greatly increases your chances of getting lymphoma or leukemia in the future. I dont have the exact numbers but look on the PubMed published medical journals on the NCBI website, they may have a publication for this occurrence. Hope this helps....
