Surgery is over, now the waiting
I had my surgery, double mast. with immediate reconstruction on Thursday (2.25). I'm staying with my cousin and doing OK. I'm uncomfortable, but the pain is not unbearable. The drains are driving me nuts. I know they are there to help prevent infection, but they are so uncomforable. I'll find out the pathology on Wednesday…

How strong do we have to be?
How much 'extra' do we have to deal with? I could actually respond to the 'feeling sorry for myself' thread (aleady did), but... Just got off the phone with my mother. I never told her about my bc. Had lumpectomy 12/7 and now finishing rads. Took some 'good pics' to send to her to cover any absences. Both my parents have…

Another lymphadema qustion (help)
Since it's Sunday, of course I have a question and I know I won't get my doc on the phone, so... I have lymphadema - very slightly. The swelling has moved ever so slowly down my arm (since surgery 12/7, lumpectomy, sentinal node). It has landed in my pointer finger and thumb. My finger is a sausage today, as well as stiff…

Another Complication, Update from Sunrae
The heart cath showed some problems, 100% blockage in one artery, 80% in another one. Surgeon said I need bypass surgery but because of needing the masectomy soon, he and we chose to have him clean up the 80% blocked artery so the blood can get thru and I should be able to have the masectomy in a few weeks. On Plavix and…

Hi, I am in to DAY 9 of chemo. Three week cycles of taxotere and cytoxin. All is well with most symptoms. Ativan takes care of nausea. My problem is, I can't sleep. normal feeling after lumpectomy?
After reading the posts about lymphedema and compression sleeves, I need to ask if I am feeling "normal" after my lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy 2/16. Is it normal for the under part of the arm to feel bruised or maybe calling it "numb feeling" would be more accurate. There is nothing to see and not any swelling. I am…

THE WEEKEND HAHA! LAUGHING IS REQUIRED!
GLAD TO BE DRUNK A completely inebriated man was stumbling down the street with one foot on the curb and one foot in the gutter. A cop pulled up and said, "I've got to take you in, pal. You're obviously drunk." Our wasted friend asked, "Officer, are ya absolutely sure I'm drunk?" "Yeah, buddy, I'm sure," said the copper.…

Sleeve and glove causing swelling
I got my sleeve and glove this morning. Sleeve is 'off the shelf' but glove is custom made as I have very short fingers in comparison to width of hand/palm. They felt very good but within about 45 min. there was major swelling in hand and arm where there had been basically none before putting them on. Thinking back I…

Decision making time
Hi! I was just diagnosed with stage 3A breast cancer. The doctor told me that since my tumor was quite large at 6.7cm, I need to undergo chemo first to shrink the tumor. I'm seeing an oncologist tomorrow and will soon have to decide. The lymph nodes in my right armpit are really swollen and the ultrasound shows the lymph…
