Yes all the meds work viagra and levitra are similiar and cialis is the one that lasts 36 hrs. In general if there is any life down there, these pills will help improve on that. You'll have to try them all to see which is best and has the least side effect for you. Good luck with all. Google penile rejuvenation-there are lots of programs suggested out there to encourage your return to full function. jm

I'm using generic Viagra from India and its working fine. When I take a full pill 100mg - why just yesterday had and used to completion with not one issue. I posted my Med website somewhere here on another thread...but if you need it I'll go get it again. Many use Alldaychemist.com I believe. I did some research to find the best manufacture of generic Viagra and came up with the source I use that is from a particular manaufacturer over there named Aurochem in Mumbai India.

I am sitting here with a newsletter from the University of California put out by the school of public health. they say that US manufactorers are buying 80% of active ingredients and 40% of all finished drugs from India or China.

Pfizer is in India with a plant if you want brand name...and it's much less than over here I think about 4-$6 per pill...I called multiple pharmacies here and asked the cost for 30 X 100mg Viagra...I found pricing from $16.58 to over $27.00 PER PILL....I am using generic manufactured in India and bought 55 - they sent 60 plus gave me two free samples of Cialis...and the avg. cost per pill after adding an additional $15.00 on for fast delivery...took 12 business days....was $2.13 per pill. American system for selling drugs can KISS MY @#%!!!!

I'm using the Generic Levitra from India with good success. Just received an order yesterday and it took about under 2 weeks from order date to arrive here in the USA. Lot better then paying the high prices since insurance won't cover the meds.

A couple hints that work better for me. Premedicate with tylenol or something before taking the pill. Also I have found that if I skip eating the pills work better. That is the only bummer is all the planning ahead and the headache. I also get a stuffy or runny nose from the Levitra.

You might want to visit an adult shop and buy a penis ring. It fits around the base and will help hold the blood in. Similiar to the principal of when using a pump with its ring.

Keep fighting sounds like you are on the right path!

Tried my first 1/2 of a 20 mg cialis last night. Surgeon gave me 2 sample packs, 3 each, and a coupon for another sample from the pharmacist. Woke up this morning with a killer headache about 4 am. Ate three iboprophens at 6:30 and it was gone in a while. Just wondering if the body gets "used" to the cialis, that is, no more headaches? Larry - from your post it doesn't sound like it.
My surgeon recommends 1/2 of a 20mg 2 - 3 times a week to stimulate the blood flow.

I am only 4 weeks and 2 days out from surgery but I take a 5mg daily dose and every 3 days I do penile injections…. I guess in 3 months or so I will try the 20mg but no side effects of the 5mg for me so far and I have been taking them for about 2 weeks…It sounds like you are getting some action which is good

I was asked to use injections after the cath is removed 2x week and not to use Viagra, Etc… until actual function returns if I need the assistances…I am reviewing all options but this is what my surgeon asked me to do and I will talk to my Urologist about this too but from what I understand I will get 100% oxygenated blood to my friend and will know it…we will see

hello - did they spare the nerve bundles? - if so, then the meds should work - viagra/cialis.. but if the nerve bundles were not spared , then the drugs would do no good - and you would have to use injections - trimix or Bimix - to make mr. happy- happy again.

-write down your questions and bring them to the next meeting with your uro.
-that would be my best advice for what is best for you.

Most of my nerves were spared according to my surgeon but he just recommends the injections at first (I have read volumes like most of us here and different opinions with the doctors)…However, I will say that my surgeon is given credit to “perfecting” the nerve sparing process and I think I said this was his preference for his patients (I am one of his statistics now and in a number of studies with Northwestern)..I know my urologist prefers ED drugs…So I will see on Monday what direction I move towards… Everything is a new adventure now….

So I follow this thread… I inject the bi solution every 3 days (it does not hurt but I had to get my mind wrapped around the process at the beginning)…When I inject .3cc I get about a 50%-60% erection (45mins to over an hour) and when I do .5cc (doc told me to play with the dose) pretty close to 100%...From my experience you also should change sides that you inject into to balance out the “stretching” equally ) ….I also take 5mg daily dose of Cialils….

My penis is beginning to become “supple” from my treatments…Prior to the treatments after surgery and right after the treatments my penis felt like a “metal pipe”…so I guess it staring to become more supple is a good thing…

To think 4 weeks to the day I just thought about sex and I would get hard…now it is a different story and I hope in the long haul it is manageable…I will say that the orgasm is different and for me now but it is actually more pleasurable and intense (hard to explain) …we will see what happens over time…

I pushed the orgasm thing on week 3 (doc said no sooner than 4 weeks but…) had to see if you really could have an orgasm and like I said I was surprised how good it was (I have got to believe a lot of this is part mental…just wrap your head around it)… I will call it a real one without the injections I hope to have in 3 months then the next challenge with the radiation….got to love this journey…

I had my davinci surgery 9 days ago. I had my cath removed on Monday of this week. I was told to take 50mg Viagra before I went to bed. I woke up with a semi erection and was amazed. I was still sore and gassy with a semi erection. I have been advised to take one every Monday, Wed. and Friday. I took one on Wed and woke this morning with complete erection. I took advantage of it and had an orgasm. I know that is quick but the Viagra is the reason, I am sure. I get a very flushed face before I fall asleep and do have a headache in the morning. I don't know how long they intend to keep me on it,I will find out in 3 weeks. Good Luck!

Glad to hear….I guess we could compare them like the "fish that got away" stories...LOL

I believe a large % of this is mental… Had a good one after an injection today too….Got to believe in a few things here and I believe that my fireworks will be better than before…I will not be posting here for the next week or so…Getting ready to go to our beach house (Pawleys Island)tomorrow for Easter week…Only one of our 4 boys are going this year….but have some friends coming down for the week…perhaps I will have a Margareta or 2 this week and live large…I know I will be doing some surf fishing...I also have a consultation at the Carolina Regional Cancer Center to see about this Radiation voodoo being recommended to me…

I also did over 50 miles of walking/hiking this week (Monday-Friday)

Incredible game! If only that 1/2 court shot had dropped...

Update on Cialis - works for me but best results are when I take ibuprofen also. Hmmm...headache this afternoon and my legs were sore today...blamed it on my workout yesterday (which I thought was kind of wimpy) but I did take the 10 mg of Cialis yesterday.
This is a crazy journey, isn't it?

BD - man, I am impressed that you were mobile so soon after the open surgery. I talked to a guy down the street 8 days post-op while walking my dog who had open a few years ago. He was shocked that I was up and about after daVinci. He said he was laid up for weeks with the cath in for 3-4 of those weeks. I guess everything has improved over the last few years.

My surgeon’s papers state that there is little difference if any between open vs robotic process as far as down time and he is one of the authorities on this...From my perspective, it is the skill level of the surgeon plus (and I am sure bias based on his papers) open is a better procedure with less complications and recovery issues…but for me no issues with bladder control from the second the cath was removed…walked 50 miles during the 4th week after surgery and ED therapy is moving along… Anyway bottom line it is the skill level and experience you want not the process in my opinion….

Cialis for me is 5mg every day for over 2 weeks and no side effects yet and does get the blood flowing..plus the injections (which by far produce better erections right now)

At the end of the day what ever works for you to battle this beast...

The good news now is that if you're having results at this point, things will get better as you go along. I'm 1 year 4 months post daVinci and am *almost* back to pre-op results, even without ED meds. I still use them from time to time, taking a 100mg V and cutting it into 4 doses. At my dr appointment yesterday when getting a refill scrip, he suggested drinking grapefruit juice while taking it. Apparently there is a chemical in grapefruit that helps V work. Something about the "uptake" boosting the 25mg dose to work as if it were 100mg. Could lead to more flushing and sinus stuffiness though. Sounds like it's worth a shot. I like grapefruit juice anyway!

HOpe things keep improving for you!

I am 53 days post surgery and I am only able to achieve 80 per cent erection without ED pills (not yet enough for penetration). I have tried Viagra, Levitra and Cialis but none improves the hardness on my penis when erect. My concern now is that when I have erection, the base of my penis becomes larger than it was before surgery.Did any body experience that? I also have the feeling that my penis is now a little longer than it was. I was under the impression that it will be shorter after the surgery. Any comments?

Zakpaga as I understand the “grading” of erections on a scale of 1-10:

5 is sufficient for vaginal penetration
6 is sufficient for anal penetration

When my urologist gave me my first penile injection he told me I was at 40% and graded me as a 3 (scale of 1-10)

The second time he injected me (he injected me with more bi-mix) he told me that I was at 50% and graded me a 4. He then wrote out a RX and doubled this dose….

I find that when I injected .3cc I get a 5 and I can penetrate and while I am having intercourse my “unit” grows…This is why I am injecting this stuff it is like giving “Willy” a walk in the park and he gets exercise…. If I inject more (which I have) my erections last to long…20-30 minutes is enough with the .3 dosage… I personally have no interest in a grade 8-10 scale erection prior to penetration for an 1-2 hours…I think most women would run screaming if you used it that long…LOL

Anyway all trial and error but it is great news that you are getting blood to your friend 50+ days out on your own… Perhaps you might want to ask your urologist about bi or tri mix to jump start yourself…I personally find it nice that I have been able to have an erection (which btw feels pretty normal) have sex and orgasm since around week 3…

Best of luck and enjoy the day

Thanks Bdhilton for your reply. In grading the erections, I was comparing my current erection to my previous situation before the surgery. But it is good to know the grading used by the medical establishement.

For the moment, I am not yet comfortable with injecting my penis although i heard that it is not painful. I will continue to take the pills at least to help the blood flow in the penis. I also bought a VED. If things do not improve in a month, I will talk to my urologist about these injections.

Thank you

Yes the hardest part (no pun) about the injections is wrapping your head around sticking a needle in it and no it does not hurt and I have no issues what so ever anymore…The benefits are great with them as I mention my surgeon and urologist say it is the best therapy plus you get immediate results that have been good for my ego with my wife…funny thing is now my wife is asking me when I am going to inject next…

Best to all

Yesterday, I allowed the doctor to stick the needle into my penis. Although, I am having on my own an erection that is improving every week but not enough for penetration, I decided to go for the injections. I should say that the injection itself was not painful but I did have pain in my penis once erect certainly due to the streching of the penil muscle. It lasted two hours. The doctor advised me to continue to use the pump two minutes twice a day to strech the penil muscle and 10 mg of Cialis every other day.

Well,I will see how it goes at the next injection. With 10 cc (units) of Trimix in the doctor office, I was hard enough after 5 minutes. The doctor advised me to use that dosage.

Will keep you posted on my progress

Victor
