CT Scan… As you already know I had my CT scan today where they pump ink up your back end and look at everything. First of all it was NOT a pleasant experience. It’s been 4 hours and I’m still cramping!! Anyways I need to go back in time from when I had my surgery last August. I don’t know if I told you or not but when they had my open the surgeon went ahead and removed my appendix in case it was to give me any problem later in life. They did a biopsy on my removed appendix and it showed to have a rare form of cancer in it. They never gave it much concern sense they removed it and thought that was that . Well on today’s CT scan it shows that the surgeon only removed half of the appendix (Something they NEVER do). Or a new cancer is growing and if it is a new cancer it will be this rare kind from my appendix. Or if it part of my appendix why did they NOT remove the whole thing?

Does this ever end?

    Brooks,
I am so sorry to hear you are facing more uncertainty. One day at a time. As I recall I read that on your about me page. Sometimes it does seem as if before we can catch our breath from clearing one hurdle, another is in our path. Please stay strong. My positive thoughts are headed your way.
    Regards,

I am sorry that you had to go through such an unpleasant procedure and even more sorry that you know have to deal with this issue. Can you go back back and review the surgical notes for your operation? It seems so weird but didn't someone just post a few days ago about the DR notes saying that he/she removed the gallbladder and that person had had their gallbladder out years before? I can't remember who posted that but it was strange. It is quite possible that there is some error on someone's part here and I hope you get it resolved quickly.

That's another reason I try to only use physicians that already have
a house on the beach that's paid for, three brand new Lexus's
they paid cash for, and kids that have already graduated college.

Stand firm, man, better days -are- coming!

It was my gallbladder (removed in 1989)
that they claimed showed up on the CT scan. Still have not gotten to the bottom of what it really was that they saw. Surgeon implied that perhaps it was just a shadow. What? I will be asking again tomorrow when I see the radiation oncologist. Brooks post certainly makes me even more suspicious. Geez!

    Good Grief!
I suppose this means more tests and follow-up! What a drag when you should be CELEBRATING new life! I hope it is just a glitch! (a benign glitch!)

    Scar Tissue...
    Brooks,
Maybe it's just scar tissue from the surgery? Like Joann said, they saw her gallbladder but that was already removed and they claim to have seen it on her CT scan.

I'm praying for scar tissue only for you!

    yikes
    Hi Brooks,

I'm sorry you had such a bummer experience. Interesting about the ink up your back end for the CT- I've never had that done with getting a CT! I've just drank the yucky stuff for CT's & then wait awhile & they say it goes all through the digestive tract.

Anyhow, how very unusual with the appendix situation. Will they be able to biopsy what's left in you to see if it's the other half of the appendix or not?

You take care- my PET/CT is tomorrow- I'm worried what kind of "yikes" will be found in me!

    Oh Brooks! No!
I thought of you yesterday and was thinking about you this morning. I actually was remembering your day out with your friends and thought 'he's out really enjoying being well...'

There's 2 guys on the colon cancer area of Daily Strength that have pretty rare appendix cancer. Irish Warrior is 22 and has been fighting 4 years. His was Stage IV when it was found. Mark has some condition with a bunch of letters. You can check their stories out at
    Daily Strength

I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope all you need is the other half removed. Check out my thread on Say What about a local friend who had cancer in his appendix a couple years ago.

Like Phil, I can't believe what I am reading, only took out half the appendix, why would they only take out half, doesn't make any sense. I sincerly hope this is scar tissue. Please let us know what you find out further and you are right, does this ever end. Take care - Tina

    Whoa!
Brooks, I can't believe what I am reading! I would seriously consider investigating WHY the "surgeon" only removed half of your appendix. That is absurd! If it is an organ that we really "don't need", why the F would he take only 1/2 of a cancerous one out???
    -phil

I'd only pay "half of the bill"

Brooks, I found this when looking for my friend's husband. It says one type tends to grow back. Not sure what type you had tho. Here's a link.

Hello Doctor … As you may already know I had my CT scan today with the ink up my back end. It sure was no picnic!! LOL. My concern is the spot where my appendix was removed. The CT doc says that it looks like only half of my appendix was removed or I may have a new growth. As you may recall when they did the biopsy of my appendix it did show a rare cancer growing inside of it. Any chance of a cell being missed when it was removed to re-grow? Any chance only half of my appendix was removed? Can we look at my CT scans that I had in August so we can compare? I really need you doctors to look into this ASAP so we can maybe see what’s going on. What was the name of the cancer in my appendix? Somebody please email me and or call my cell phone *** *** ****

    Good work Brooks. Stay us
Good work Brooks. Stay up their butts like the ink they put up yours. And tell them you've got some friends who are totally freaking out about this and won't be able to sleep until you give them some answers.

    Glad you sent this Brooks.
Glad you sent this Brooks. I seriously can't imagine that a doc would only remove half of an appendix. That would seriously disturb me.

Please let us know what they say.

Wishing for the best for you!!

    Way to go Brooks
Glad you sent the email. They just don't realize the anxiousness associated with the unknown, do they? Positive thoughts for it to be scar tissue. Thanks for keeping us in the loop.
    Kind regards,
