Any one here have Granulosa Cell Tumor of the Ovary?
I have GCT. It started as a "cyst" that ruptured, which in fact it was the tennis ball sized rt ovary filled with a tumor. After removal of the rt ovary and tube and upon reviewing the path report, my gyn. referred me to a gyn/onc. who 2 weeks later did a robotic total hysterectomy. The path report is back and GCT cells…

Getting ready for neighborhood yard sale
I gotta lot of books on natural healing & cancer prevention that are leaving my house. Maybe someone else can use them now. I was so focused on preventing breast cancer as I figured that disease was high risk for ALL women why should I be any different? I guess my situation could be worse as I know some people are dealing…

Molecular Profiling/Clearity Foundation
Has anyone had experience with molecular profiling and/or the Clearity Foundation? I emailed my oncologist and here was his reply (so I think I need to get as much information about it as I can before I proceed.) His reply: There are many tests right now for ovarian cancer are not considered to be ready for general use…

Sarah, the Carcinista.....Things I Don't Have to Worry About Anymore
For all of you who do not belong to the Inspire board, or did not follow Sarah's blog, I am curring and pasting this posthumous entry, from Sarah and her husband. Sarah and I sat together on the couch looking at her computer, trying to make sense of things. At the moment, she was in a place of clarity, somewhere between…

Primary Peritoneal Cancer (part 2)
Hi, like so many others on this board, I would like to see a separate board for PPC. If you look at the only other thread with this title, it goes on for a long time I think because those of us with PPC are immediately drawn to discussing our shared experience. I have some questions of others who have said they have PPC:…

Hello beautiful teal sisters !! I had my port installed today. I was scared, but it really wasn't bad. I have a power port that can withstand the ct scans with power injectors. I don't know if thats something new or not. It actually took almost as much time to get me and the room prepped as it did for the doc to do the…

Dear Zinaida
I read one of your responses and your bio. I am so glad that you are in some type of remission. My diagnosis was almost the same as you, except I was 2A and didn't have it spread to the breast. I also was on Carbo/Taxo the 1st time and 2nd time. Unfortunately mine came back again in 2008. I tried carbo/gemzar, but became…

Home After Hospital Stay
My mom was first diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer Stage 4 in 2009. She had the tumor debulking surgery and fluid drained off of her lungs. She has been through 2 or 3 rounds with chemo that responded for the cancer. This last illness has really taken a toll on my mom. Her lungs were filled up with fluid almost to the point of…

Who knew? MSKCC has a Thrift Shop
I was poking around on the Memorial Sloan-Kettering site, trying to see if I could make a memorial donation in Nancy's memory via the internet, when I came across this: This spacious thrift shop on the Upper East Side of Manhattan is known for being the beneficiary of the highest quality donations of designer and vintage…

My Sister's Physical Pain
Hi. On May 17th my sister Karen, age 46, had suboptimal debulking surgery after 6 rounds of neoadjuvant chemo. (DX 12/10, stage 3C). They removed her omentum, ovaries and tubes. They said that they couldn't get the uterus out because the bladder is attached? Anyway, 3 weeks post-op and her abdominal pain is increasing. She…

newly diagnosed
Hi all! I am a newly diagnosed ovarian cancer patient stage 1c. I had a suspicious cyst that was found on a ct scan. My gyn was 90% sure it was an endometrioma but said the only way to be sure is to do surgery. On May 24th I underwent a laparoscopic hysterectomy robotic assisted. I was told everything was fine-no cancer.…

Question for Donna (RockchickSurvivor) re: your trial
I am so sorry to hear about your 3rd battle with ovarian cancer. I, too, seem to be fighting battle after battle. I'm sorry that you are in pain, because I know what pain feels like and on a scale from 1-10, mine was a 10 (although I'm not in pain now). I have heard about the cytoxan trial, I think it's with ABT-888. I…

Dear Eileen (EWARD)
I am so sorry to hear about your mom. Since December, being on different chemos, I have been having slight progression, they can't seem to find the right combination of drugs. The Chair
I love you ladies. The port and numbing cream worked beautifully. My fear of sitting here and hooking up to the machine was manageable. I shed a tear or two and admitted to the nurse I was scared. Re: Getting Ducks in a Row
I am with you LQ. I am going to get started with a couple projects I've been meaning to do while I am feeling well. PS: I would appreciate prayers today as I'm having a ct scan this evening to see what's happening with a rise in my CA125 from 22.7 to 103 after a three month break from chemo. Thank you, Chris
