Happy Moments..so few and far between
Mom is doing ok, we got through another chemo (#3). This has been a tough mountian, but she keeps climbing and we are all there with her. She has gained weight, is getting around the house and that makes me feel good. I know this will never get easier, but I have found acceptance and courage to face things that scare me…

Leesa 3.0 about to commence production!
Brief but happy update! CA125 prior to brain surgery was 284, now it's down to 35! Looks like brain mets does cause a rise in the cancer marker. We'll still keep an eye on it though. Whole brain radiation starts on Monday. Bad news, will lose hair again. Worse news...it may not grow back. However, in the grand scheme of…

Just want you all to know that even when I can't be here that you all sustain me everyday. I'm going to have to restrain…

Been called in to the oncologist's office - terrified. Second recurrence?
Hi - I just joined, looking for hope, comfort, and information on-line. I was just called a couple of days ago by my oncologist's office to come in for an appointment. I was just there a couple of weeks ago for my 3-month check. I had had a CT scan before hand, and she said nothing while I was there. I had the usual…

Keeping up with the girls.....as usual
I got an email from Mawty (Marty White) and she will be going back into treatment, looks like. You may remember, she is a 3+ year survivor and has been on chemo the whole time, except for one brief respite of about 6 months. She's doing great, though. Just got back from Vegas, where she saw Paul McCartney live. I keep…

Info about surgery and rehab
Hi There. I am going for a hysterectomy - done laprascopically (sp?). I'm just wondering what to expect, how I will be and what my mobility will be like. Any idea how long I would be off work, not able to care for myself, my kids, etc. Dr said I would be in hospital for about 2 days. Should I be cooking for the next few…

Immuno suppressed and narcotic farts
So, I am still working my way through the first week post chemo. My ears are ringing like no tomorrow. They feel really off. I have an inner ear disorder and this just feels like it is making it way worse. The constipation is still a problem. I label the topic narcotic farts, because bowel/gas movements are just so…

A question about HIPEC
Hi, I've been seeing quite a few things about HIPEC treatment. Has anyone ever had this treatment. My gyn/oncologist told me that it is a very rough treatment for a person to go through and could have alot of side effects. Just wondering if anyone on board has had this particular treatment yet. Thanks.

Medicare
Just found out that I'm eligible for Medicare coverage. Those of you who have Medicare: have your chemo treatments always been covered? What about the iv anti-nausea meds? Any information you ladies can give would be greatly appreciated! I've got a lot of investigative work to do. Blessings, Natalie

1st Week post chemo
The first days were a fog of steroids and exhaustion. I was tired, comatose, and twitchy at the same time. It was amazing the amount of energy that it took to justshift in bed. Those first days were sheer terror, too. I was scared. The exhaustion was at a level I had not reached before and did not think was possible. Sigh,…

Please help me!
Hello, My friend is 47 years old. She has a mass growing from her ovary into her colon about the size of a baseball. She has been referred to an oncologist because her dr. said it didn't look good. They originally gave her a test which came back negative, but the dr. says these tests can give off false negatives. She is…

Advice
We're headed to meet with the medical oncologist who will put forth the treatment strategy which we're gauging will be more cisplatin/taxotere. This regimen was difficult for Linda to continue following four cycles (3 each) from September through December. But the chemotherapy did eliminate the tumor and her CA-125 dropped…

If you lost your mom to this disease....
I am just venting. Tomorrow is exactly one year that my mom lost her hard fought battle with this god forsaken disease. She fought HARD. She was not ready to go. She loved us (her children) and her grand babies SO MUCH that she really was not ready to leave us. But the fact is that she fought this disease, that was stage…

My mother (age 56 years) has been detected with breast cancer in 2005. It was operated and then the 4 chemo cycles were done. In 2010 ovarian cancer she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. CA 125 count was more than 650. It was a stage IIIC cancer and metastasis was in abdomen. The cancer was operated and 6 chemo cycles are…

PPC board
Hi everyone I have emailed CSN with a request for them to develop a PPC board. Whilst I have enjoyed talking to all of the ladies on this Ovarian Cancer board, I would like a specific PPC board set up as there are differences between the 2 cancers. So this is just to alert anyone who may be interested in lobbying CSN to…

HN125 new anti-OVCA therapy
This information is the result of preliminary research that will take years to trickle down to benefit any of us. Nevertheless, it is pretty exciting for me to find this as I am still somewhat of a "chemophobe." For those of you who get blurry-eyed when reading scientific research, let me break it down for you: Basically,…

Still an overachiever!
So, you know how OVCA doesn't usually met to the brain? My little friend, is apparently quite the pioneer in this field and wandered right off into my left frontal lobe! First, let me thank you all for the prayers and thoughts recently. Surgery went well, and my staples will be removed on Tuesday. There were two lesions.…

Card Shower for Ovarian Cancer Survivors 80th Birthday
My mom just finished chemotherapy for ovarian cancer and is celebrating her 80th birthday on July 11th. She is too weak and sick to have a party so I decided a card shower is the next best thing. Along with family and friends I came to this site because she could possibly get words of encouragement from women who knew what…

CA 125 up to 19900 while on doxil
I'm freaking out! My ca 125 is 19,900 and I've been on doxil since dec. I had liver rfa in august in attempt to treat 2nd recurrence (ca 125 was 60). Had liver rfa and when checked in oct. It was 10000. Dr. decided to wait and recheck - it was even higher so we started doxil and it started coming down getting as low as 140…

Forgive me ladies
I just need to vent. I have been in remission since November 2010 and have felt great except for aches and pains. I have been going to an exercise program as well as yoga one day a week. I'm sure it will pass but I am feeling lonely and restless. I retired from my job at the end of November 2010 even though I had not…

Fluid Buildup
I have a very good question here. How can you be dehydrated, but your ankles and feet are swollen. My mom was on Lasix in the hospital. I called her cancer doc and he put her back on it, but I did not realize that she was dehydrated. I also asked for something to boost her appetite in which the doctor did give her…
