I amso tired of seeing this stuff about how women can lower thier chances of breast cancer. Take my morther for example. She has never smoked, never had a drink of alcohol in her life, breast fed two babies, weight normal, exercises, eats healthy as in doesn't eat processed foods and she got breast cancer. I agree with my…

Currently, I am doing well with the aftermath of the cancer. Energy level is almost back to normal. I am still not back on my tamoxifen as my onc wants to wait…

Soy based foods for estrogen receptor positive cancers
Hi all, I recently asked a question to the cancer nutritional expert on Livestrong. I thought the question and answer may be interesting to those of us with estrogen receptor positive cancers. My question: I had an estrogen receptor positive cancer. While my oncologist has not weighed in on this, I have heard many people…

What kinds of meals and foods?
A friend of mine has a bro-in-law is about to start chemo and radiation -- daily, I think. She was asking me if I remembered what kinds of meals appealed to me when I was going through chemo and rads. Several times friends and family did bring us supper. I do know that sometimes I was more hungry than other times. So, are…

Info I Learned On Foot Draw Protocol From Mayo
For people with bilateral arm/hand LE and Foot Draws: Mayo clinic lab has a protocol that if you need a foot draw for blood draws, the foot needs to stay elevated for 2 hours afterwards. I forgot to ask why, but am assuming because of blood clots. My local clinic NEVER mentioned this to me. I told the Mayo tech that and…

Did anyone use fake bangs under hats or scarves? Yay or Nay?
Hi, still searching for head coverings for my upcoming chemo-induced hair loss. I see that several sites offer fake bangs that you velcro or stick on. Hmmm, wonder if they look like fake bangs velcroed on! Did any of you try these products and if so, did you like them or recommend them? TLC sells them…

Darn! I just knew I would have a full head of hair before the wedding....
Whine, whine, whine...I know. What is it about me and hair? Anyway, I have been off taxotere for months now (last dose August) and my hair is just not coming back like I remembered from chemo before. Beginning to suspect I may not get all of my hair back-or it will be a full year. I remain on herceptin/perjeta forever (or…

I have been reading posts this week and found the comments very helpful and then I read the Welcome to Hogwarts post. I knew I found a second family. I have a big mass and a supraclavicular node (left side) that is enlarged so I am sure of my diagnosis. My 80+ mom is 3yrs since chemo so I know the drill. Having an…

Taxol allergy, PET SCAN results, now Arimidex

Shaving advice, anyone?
I am new to the board and 4 weeks post surgical for bilateral mastectomy. In the last 4 weeks I have not shaved the arm pit on the side they did the lymph node biopsy as I was advised not to use a razor. In a fit of desperation tonight I drug the horse clippers into the house and popped on the surgical blades. My husband…

What hair loss related products did you find most useful? Upcoming 1st chemo.....
Hi everyone. I am starting 5 - 6 months of chemo in 2 weeks and it is the type that makes your hair fall out. In preparation, I have already had my hair cut from shoulder length to smile length, just to get used to short hair. I am thinking I may go to a pixie cut before I do the big shave. I want to go online and order a…

Drove 4 hours to Mayo Clinic today
My son and I drove to Rochester, MN today for my Mayo Clinic Pulmonology appointment to see if there is anything else to do to save my lungs from that agressive form of hypersensitivity pnuemonitis that I have been battling for over a year now. So far we can only slow the progression. My CT scan last month showed more…
