Mastechtomy
I was diagnosed two weeks ago and had my mastechtomy one week ago. Lymph nodes are clear according to the surgeon so am hoping to hear this Wed. that maybe I will not need chemo or radiation but possibly oral cancer drugs. It is still unreal to me as everything happened so fast. My husband is in his 5th year fighting stage…

Possible Tamoxifen shortage - refill now if you can
I received a letter in today's mail from my mail-order pharmacy (Express Scripts, for Anthem) that there's apparently a "shortage of the active ingredient used to manufacture Tamoxifen products," and warning me that they may not be able to fill prescriptions for Tamoxifen for some unspecified period of time, possibly…

prosthesis versus implants
As newly diagnosed and needing a mastectomy, I want to hear from survivors who have prosthesis or implants on the good and bad of each. I don't know which way I want to go, but want to decide before my first surgery so I don't have extra surgeries later on. Thanks in advance for sharing!

thyroid nodules.
We're all watched more carefully since we've had the big C. A cold led to a lung xray which led to more test eventually leading to a lung biopsy. Got through that ok. They also found thyroid nodules that they are watching every 6 months. The last ultrasound showed the nodule was larger and there was another one on the…

Qustions about Abraxane ??
My wife will be starting Abraxane tomorrow for stage 4 breast cancer. She has a small spot of mets on her right femur but no damage to the bone. Her Onc says even though she is stage 4 it is very early stage 4 and her PET showed no spread to any vital organs only in the bone and a few lymph nodes near her original tumor…

Stage 4 Triple Negative Breast Cancer
I am new to this site. Almost 2 years ago my sister was diagnosed with TN Breast cancer. They did a lumpectomy and we went through 3 rounds of chemo. Had to stop the chemo due to it causing damage to her already weak heart. They told us she was cancer free. Now after about a year she went in for gallbladder surgery as soon…

Surgery with immidiate reconstruction
hi all, I have been recently diagnosed with ILC and went through uni MX on my left breast. We are still waiting for the detailed path reports. I had requested my surgeon for options for immidiate reconstruction but he said that since i will have to go through radiation, thats not an option for me. However, i see several of…

Newly DIagnised
Hello everyone, I was diagnosed in Jan 2 with breast cancer. I am not new to the cancer world. I was a cargiver for my mother with ovarian cancer and my daughter who battled with non-rhabdoid soft tissue sarcoma. Both lost their battle, my daughter was 13. I have worked closely with the American Cancer Society since her…

melanoma after breast cancer?
I have to see the doctor about an odd brownish "growth" on my "big" toenail, or under it, can't really tell. At first, I thought maybe I injured it, but didn't remember. But now, it just stays there and doesn't grow out with my nail. :( I already had squamous cell carcinoma about 7 months ago.......just worried. Does…

new question : testing for cancer?
I have been told by my Onc that there are no tests for determining if the cancer is still inside me. He does not even recommend the Cat scan - tho my surgeons do @ the year mark - to compare to my earlier one. But i have seen people talking about "tumor marker" testing - why would i not have that? and several people have…

Woohoo, early stage 1 and not stage 2
I saw my surgeon on Thursday. He said that I am in early stage 1 infiltrating ductal carcinoma, and not stage 2 as I thought. (self diagnosing from the pathology report) I am having a lumpectomy with radiation instead of a mastectomy. The survival rates for the two are identical so I don't feel the need to go radical. I am…
