Hello old friends and new, I hope I am still welcome back. BRCA
Just when I was ready to do the naked happy dance and eat chocolate, found out I was positive for the BRCA gene defect. I will be having a hysterectomy in a couple of months because the risk of ovarian Ca is higher and they usually take out the ovaries and fallopian tubes, but I want it all out---haven't used them in years…

Swimming with Prosthesis
I finished treatments in June 2008 and I finally began swimming again in January and have worked up to a mile - very slow but steady. I purchased a "swimming" prosthesis, but it doesn't fit as well as my other prosthesis as it is a size larger. I am rather small - I use the smallest prosthesis available, however, I haven't…

Guess what I did yesterday???
I saw Lance Armstrong! I was actually about 4' from him...for about a nano-second, anyway! There is an 800 mile bike race in California, which is called the Amgen Tour, and it is aligned with Cancer fundraising organizations. It is much like the famous Tour de France ( or is that Tour de Lance?) and part of the race goes…

what the beauty specialist said/Ohilly
Okay, I went to the beauty specialist (a cosmetologist specializing in hair loss and chemo patients): she told me my hair is not THAT bad, but agreed that it is thinning in the front. She told me no one can tell me if it will grow back thicker. She suggested that I ask my doctor about Rogaine, but said in the worst case…

Reglan (Metoclopram) for nausea
Has anyone been prescribed Reglan to combat nausea or digestive problems while taking chemo? When I first began treatment in May 2008, I struggled to find a medication that would relieve the constant nausea I had following infusion, and after 8 weeks was prescribed Reglan. The medication did calm my nausea, and I was told…

Wait is over Surgery Tomorrow
After 5 weeks tomorrow is the day of my surgery. I'm having wire-guided wide-excision for my diagnosis of DCIS. I have to be there at 8am & should be there 4-5hrs I was told. Of course I am a nervous wreck! I do have faith in my surgeon but worried about the last mammo results from 1/20 stating there is a mass next to the…

Long term effects of Aromotase Inhibitors...
Is anyone out there close to finishing up their five year stint on an aromatase inhibitor? If so, would you relate your experience/s with side effects, i.e. type, duration, intensity. Did any of your side effects lessen over time or disappear altogether? I was on Arimidex for approximately 7 months but the trigger finger…

please someone who had a bald spot reply/going crazy
I know this is not normal to be obsessing this much about my hair: my hair grew back in everywhere (it's been 5 months since it started growing) but in front there is one bald spot and you can see thru to my scalp. This is very, very upsetting to me: I use Nioxin products, but am still very anxious to the point that I made…
