SeekPeace re: your Trams
Just read your response to Rusty on the 27th when you mentioned that your Trams were too big for your liking... did you ask for a revision? It may not be too late. My situation was different in that I had a unilateral and had to have revision as the Tram came out quite a lot larger than my remaining breast... perhaps you…

SNB with prophylactic mastectomies
This question is directed at anyone who's had prophylactic mastectomies. Was the subject of sentinal node biopsy discussed? My cousin (diagnosed with LCIS) will be having bilateral mastectomies in January. Not quite sure why SNB would need to be done so wanted to check others experience. Thanks. Susan

Thanks from Meems
You all echoed what I down deep know, and have been practicing successfully most of the time, but I do have what I call "black moods" about this damn disease. I have spent my life being negative and afraid to think positive but it is amazing how I have learned to turn that around. I will not listen to negative, have…

Did anyone get a port for chemo?
Both onc I saw have suggested that I get port for chemo with AC. They say the choice is mine. I would rather not go through any more surgeries, let alone 2 more *minor* ones. Anyone have experience with this? ps. thanks to everyones responses to my never ending set of questions...this is just all so new and I appreciate…

Exercise and how to prevent lymphedema
Evening, Hope everyone had a blessed holiday. I had a right mastectomy with lymph nodes removed about 18 months ago. Starting to work with weights for upper arm strength. I'm using the "life circuit" equipment; you do a "test" and based on that the machine sets the weight limits. Depending on the exercise the weights can…

Breast re construction!
Hi All Today I went to see my PSabout my options. He gave me two ops to consider. 1) To have reduction on one and use the tissue to rebuild the other. 2) To go for full recon by using the muscle from my back. My hubby and I have talked about them both. The first one is a lesser op and less time to heal . The second he said…

Being tolerated
I've been reading the discussion threads on depression . . . because that's my immediate concern. I've had the lumpectomy, chemo, and am finishing up radiation pretty soon. What haunts me is this worthlessness, aimlessness, teary thing. I'm so fragile, and I think people around me are just putting up with me. Now when I…

Bone Scan/Happy Thanksgiving
Hi everyone!! The list has been sorta quiet lately. I miss you guys. I am scheduled for a bone scan on Tuesday and I am a little nervous. My oncologist asked me what would help me and the fear and I told her that would be a good start. Ever since the misdiagnosis of the cancer, I am not totally trusting anyone. When I went…

Hello, my name is Kelsey and I live in Phoenix, Arizona. For my high school accelerated English class I need to interview someone who survived a major event. Considering stopping Tamoxifen
Hello - I had a mastectomy at 27, chemo, and have now been on Tamoxifen for 3 years. I don't mean to whine because I am so grateful to be alive - but I'm debating whether or not to keep taking it. I have a call in to my oncologist. I just feel so out of it all the time - my memory is shot, I have mood swings and fatigue,…

Replacing aging/ruptured implants
Has anyone undergone surgery to replace aging or ruptured implants? If so, did you replace them with implants again or did you have a DIEP/SIEA/GAP fatty tissue transfer reconstruction? Did you have your implants removed "en bloc" -- inside the scar capsule? Did you have any loose silicone in your body that needed…

no surgery?
I'd like to know if others have had the experience of my sister who has inflammatory breast cancer with mets to the spine and lungs. From the beginning, the docs have said surgery to remove the primary cancer in the breast isn't really under consideration. Her way of coping is to avoid any knowledge of her prognosis so she…

Breast cancer w/ mets to spinal fluid
In July of 2003, I felt a lump in my right breast. I went immediately to my primary doc who sent me immediately to the breast diagnositic center. Everyone felt the lump, my husband, my primary doc, & the doc at the breast center. The mammogram showed NOTHING, so next she did an ultrasound since we all felt the lump. She…

Praying and hoping
Hi everyone. I have browsed these boards for this entire year. My husband has been fighting Hodgkin's Disease and I read a lot of helpful info on the various boards. Now, I fear I need help. I went to the dr. yesterday because I found a lump in my breast. While she was doing a clinical exam, she found another lump on the…

I need to hear from someone who has gone through this
I was just diagnosed yesterday, although I have known since Monday...but not really known. I'm just 31 with a husband and 1 1/2 year old daughter. I have no idea how I am going to get through this. My surgery is in five days. Please if you've gone through this, let me know. I need to hear it from a real person and not just…

herceptin study
I have been a participant in the clinical trial that involved using herceptin for patients who are not dealing with metastisized cancer. Jhope? Trying to keep it
I am 9 months finished with 6 months of chemo (@ 2 weeks), 2 months radiation, 2 surgies, yadda yadda. No one wants to hear about it anymore? It's done with. Except my 3 month cat scans don't let me forget easily, still tired, can't seem to get my feet under me. I guess I concentrated so much on just reaching to be…

Hi Ladies: Even though some of you may have seen this before, hope you'll enjoy this bit of mammo humor: SUBJECT: How to prepare for a mammogram: Many women are afraid of their first mammogram and even if they've had one before, there's still some anxiety. But there's no need to worry really. By taking a few minutes each…

had the mri, saw the onc
Well, except for some degeneration that is normal to my age, there is nothing wrong with my spine. When the mri was ordered, I asked should they not do the shoulder too and they did not do it. Now, instead of them doing the shoulder, I have asked for a full bone scan. Just get this all done and be done.

AfterCare
I am asking this from a medical provider stand point. What are some of your needs that are or are not being addressed once you have finished treatment?

Please tell me something good. . . .
I'm really down today - not for myself, but for an old friend. She has lived with "chronic" leukemia (and heart problems from the chemo) for years, and now she has developed bone cancer. She's the same age as I am (nearly 70) and we have been like sisters for over 30 years. I just can't face the possibility of losing her.…

Bathroom issues - ouch!
Ok - This is embarassing, but I have to ask someone! I had my last A/C treatment last week, I will be starting taxol next week. The last few weeks I've developed hemmoriods. My oncologist says I will have fewer issues with this on taxol, but it the mean time I can't decide if I should increase my fiber or take Immodium!…

Faslodex Users
I am interested in talking to anyone who takes Faslodex injections. Why were you prescribed the injections? Do you experience back and joint pain? My dr. and I are in slight disagreement -- we found a microscopic place on my chest that didn't show up on a scan -- I insisted we biopsy it. It is in the skin and I feel it was…
