Breast Cancer Society charged with fraud!

HUGE cancer charity fraud scam

The Cancer Fund of America (Knoxville,TN) and its affiliated Cancer Support Services; The Breast Cancer Society (Mesa,AZ); and The Children's Cancer Fund of America (Powell,TN) are all involved in this FTC regulatory action. As of right now this is not a criminal action. I expect it will be in the not so distant future. This is one of the largest charity fraud cases in history and involves all 50 states. By agreement with the FTC the organizations have been shuttered. It involves members of one extended family and $187 million. It is truly unbelievable the depths to which some people will sink.

Charity

'....Faith, Hope & Charity....but the greatest of these is Charity..." 

I donate things now to a local Food Bank, Good Will and my Church, but mostly have to stick with the 'Charity begins at Home' adage since I'm not working and am living on Social Security.

I know the Red Cross does good work, but once I saw the salaries of some of the people that run it, just did not donate to them any longer (back when I was working).   Maybe that has changed.  Agree with you all about how disgraceful this Cancer Fraud is and I hope they are all put in prison. 

This is from a RED Cross Statement:  "The president and CEO of the American Red Cross is Gail McGovern, and her base salary has remained $500,000—without any pay increase—since she joined the American Red Cross in 2008. This is considered well within the range for executives of large non-profits like the Red Cross, a $3.3 billion organization,"    ....And perhaps they think $500K is good...but I think it is terrible....this organization could be well run by a retired executive who wanted to DONATE his or her time in my opinion.

I do donate my time and money through my Church and to those I personally know that can use a bit of help.  I do give some to USO and next month will be taking a 'bunch' of cans when I do the Crazy Horse Memorial Volksmarch - to not pay cash for the parking, they will accept 3 cans per person for the Food Bank - so I take a bag full.

I refuse to donate anything to Red Cross.  They do have good 'hype' and do a lot when they get publicity BUT - - -.  Spent too many years involved in one way or another military in my life and 'they' were NEVER there or garbled emergency messages that had to be sent to deployed (days before cells) through them.  The last was during Desert Storm.  I was told that Drs did not think Son would survive and to get his Dad home (he was on a carrier in Persian Gulf).  I contacted the 'local yokel' RC and they told me that there was no way to do that - B*// S#'!.  I had his head Dr call and she was told the same thing.  I contacted ones who were rather high up with the local RC and a message was sent (as it should have been to start).  It was not too long after that, I got a MARS call from Hubby while he was in his CO's office with a Chaplain there too.  They could not get him off the carrier for at least 12 hrs.  Son did rally and Hubby was able to get another MARS call through just before leaving the carrier - he did not fly home but fulfilled his duty as Son was no longer expected to die.  2+ months later thisSons were able to fly to Hawaii to come home on the Tiger Cruise with Hubby and I met the 3 on the pier in San Diego.  I could go on and on with things I personally know about/experienced - not 'something' I 'heard about'.

500K is base salary.  It came out that after 911  she got a 2.8 MILLION dollar bonus for doing such a good job!   Every diaster each gets huge bonuses for being there for the people.. I'm "the people" and don't like it nor will give money to it.

My husband informs me though details given are correct, wasn't Red Cross but The Salvation Army he gives to and has done so for decades.  These are also very popular in the U.K.  My daughter thinks I have Alzhiemers she could be rignt.  Please tell me you like The Salvation Army?  Not in the limelight as many others but a very old respected organization!!!
