Vitamin D

I am 71 and have had CLL since I was 62. Initially my WBC count was 12.3, but for the last 4 years has remained at about 19-21.  Four years ago I read an article in the MAYO Clinic newsletter about a study on the effects of vitamin D on  CLL. When Vitamin D levels are normal, in about 48 percent of the people  the increase in the  WBC count had been reduced significantly. The WBC count does not go down , it just doen't go up as fast.  I immediately went to my regular Doctor.  Sure enough, my Vitamin D level was low.  He prescribed 2000 I.U's per day and now my Vitamin D level is normal.  This may or may not be a coincidence, but my WBC count has not gone up in 4 years.  Needless to say I am very happy and my hemotologist  only needs to see me 1 or 2 times a year.

Thank you Bill for posting. I find this very interesting and I will ask my doctor when I go for a physical in September. My numbers are about the same range as yours. I was diagnosed in 2012 at age 63.
